As Sam studied her new hair, I could tell she was mentally wrestling with the changes that had just occurred to her family.
“Sam.... You alright?” I asked tentatively. I couldn’t quite gauge how she was handling the news that she was now half Korean.
Sam let the strand of hair fall from her fingers. “Yeah.” She said in a surprisingly relaxed tone. “Yeah, I’m okay. I just need some time to sort through these new memories.”
“You want to get out of here and grab a coffee?” I asked.
“Sure!” Sam said with a smile. “Just no more random changes until I have time to sort things out.”
“Deal.” I said as we exited the costume store and made our way to a small café in the mall. As we stood in line to order I had the chance to study Sam’s new more athletic body. Unlike before when she had the physique of a body builder, Sam now had a lean athletic build that looked strong yet graceful.
“Eyes up here,” Sam said with a smirk as she caught me eyeing up her perfectly plump bubble butt.
We ordered a couple coffees and sat down on a bench nearby. As Sam sorted through her new memories, she would tell me bits and pieces about her old and new life. Sam’s old mother Karen had been a stay-at-home mom who was a bit of a drunken mess, while Sam’s new mother Ji-young was a fairly successful accountant. Ji-young was much more influential in her daughter’s life than Karen had been in her son’s life. Ji-young always pushed Sam to excel at whatever challenge she took on. It’s why Sam was still able to be a college gymnast despite her “lofty” 5’7” height. Ji-young is also the reason that Sam is now an accounting major set to graduate with honors.
“Honestly this was all kind of for the best.” Sam said. “I mean, I hate being a woman.... But I can at least see that the old me had already peaked.... I mean my life goal was to become an influencer when I was done with my general studies degree.... Who has that as a life goal?” Sam said shaking her head. “At least now I have a good career ahead of me.” She paused to take a drink of coffee. “I’VE NOT EVEN BEGUN TO PEAK!” Sam said in a confident yet joking tone.
*Ding*
I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket. Pulling it out I could see I had a new text from Ali and that it was almost 5pm. “Shit it’s almost 5.... Sam we need to get going.” I said standing up.
“Going where?” Sam asked. I had forgot to tell Sam that I was meeting Ali and Sandy tonight to help them pick out bikinis for their trip to Mexico.
“I’m meeting a couple friends at the Surf Shop. You want to come?” I said.
“Sure?” Sam said with a shrug. “I’ve got nothing else to do, and it’s not like I want you walking off an abandoning me.” Sam got up and followed me towards the shop.
