Rebecca and Betty were quickly delivered to an orphanage. It wasn’t long until the two of them were adopted, but unfortunately for them they went to two different parents. Rebecca was adopted by the wealthy couple Thomas and Jennifer Madding while Betty was adopted by the lovely Jonathan and Sarah Wright.
The girls desperately tried to remember the camera, as well as their past lives. However, as the years went on their old memories faded as new ones replaced them. By the time the girls were 5, their old lives were nothing more but a dream and once they were 10 it had been completely forgotten about.

Rebecca Madding, or Becca as she preferred to be called, was putting the finishing touches on her makeup and hair for her night out. Tonight was her Sweet 16 and her parents had booked dinner at a fancy restaurant in the city for her and all her friends. The Maddings were quite wealthy with Thomas being the CEO of his own company. As such, Becca and her older brother Jack (the Maddings' biological son) were enrolled in a private high school. Becca wasn’t spoiled per se, but she certainly preferred the finer things in life.
Becca gave herself one final look over and thought she looked amazing. Flawless makeup, styled auburn hair and a stunning purple dress that showed just enough cleavage. Rick would be disgusted to see how feminine he had become, but Rick no longer existed; only Becca.
“Becca, honey! Are you ready?” Her mother called from below.
“Ugh, hold on Mom! I still have to post on insta!” She yelled back. Becca wanted to make sure everyone who followed her online were envious of her good looks. A full 10 minutes later of snapping selfies, Becca finally decided on a selfie and left her room, mindful not to trip while walking down the stairs in heels. At the bottom she was greeted by both her parents and her brother, dressed nicely for the dinner.
“You look wonderful Becca. Ready to get going?” Her father asked.
“Thanks Daddy. I’m totes ready to party.” Becca replied as the family left to go celebrate.

Elsewhere on the other side of the country, Betty Wright was celebrating her 16th birthday with her family. Jonathan and Sarah have unfortunately been unable to have their own kids, so they’ve had to resort to adoption in order to create the family they’ve always wanted. Not that they’re unhappy with adopting, the couple are more than willing to give these kids a new home. After adopting Betty, the two went on to adopt Lindsey and Alex who are now 12 and 8 respectively.
The Wrights, however, were a little cash strapped. They weren’t in complete poverty, but they did struggle a bit to make end’s meet. As such, Betty’s birthday party wasn’t some big and extravagant event at a fancy venue but instead just a simple party at home with her family and best friend Cammie, who she met while on the school band.
Despite being twin sisters (who didn't know each other existed), Betty was quite the opposite of Becca. She wasn’t as fashion forward for starters with Betty being comfortable in a plain blouse, skirt combo with her hair simply styled. She wasn’t interested in social media, much preferring to be engrossed in a novel or two. And she certainly wasn't as popular as Becca was at school, but Betty was ok with that. She was more concerned about getting good grades rather than what other people thought about her.
Betty and Cammie were in Betty’s bedroom painting their nails when her Mother walked in.
“Betty, sweetie. Your cake’s ready.” Sarah warmly announced, her hair dishevelled and apron smudged with icing from baking away all afternoon.
“Thanks Mom. Me and Cammie will be out in a little bit.” Betty replied.
“Ok then, don’t be too long. You know how your brother gets when there’s cake around.” Sarah closed the door behind her as the girls finished painting their final coat.

Both Becca and Betty were blissfully unaware of the camera that completely changed their existences 16 years ago. However, the camera has a funny way of dealing with its victims, reappearing in their lives long after they had gotten rid of it. Now it was time to strike.
