...a ranger.
Well, it would be an interesting time, and that would be some classic fantasy. Jeff felt a sudden cool breeze across his skin. Looking down he noticed all his clothes had vanished. He suddenly felt very exposed but all the people in the village carried on as if they couldn't see him floating there buck ass naked.
A shiver passed through him not from the wind, it felt like that odd feeling of being injected with something, a coolness spreading throughout his body beneath his skin, then he began to grow. His young body began to stretch out, limbs getting longer as his shoulder and chest got broader like a growth spurt in fast forward. Though there was none of the aches of bones growing too fast, instead it felt kind of good, like stretching muscles he didn't know he had.
And muscles were responding. His baby fat and the bit of a belly he had were suddenly melting away as he suddenly filled out with lean, hard muscle. Firm pecs pushed out from his chest as his stomach firmed up into taut abdominals. His arms and legs went from spindly and lanky to well toned in a matter of seconds. Even the muscle between his legs was growing longer and thicker as he passed from young teen into manhood.
A tingling passed over his skin as first it darkened with a tan all over, then darkened further has hair began to sprout across his body. His legs and arms sprouted dark brown hairs, more was spreading out from the small patch he had around his pubes, growing in a wide band over his six pack then spreading out across his chest in a thick pelt. He felt something brush his shoulders, and reached up to find the hair on his head had turned thick and wavy, and had grown almost a foot in length. The same tingling across his face brought his hand to his jaw only to confirm the existence of a thick but trimmed beard that completely covered his jaw, chin, and upper lip. Moving his hand up, his face felt somewhat familiar, though rougher and sharper.
Clothes began appearing back on his body, starting with undershorts made of linen. He felt his hair pull back as a band appeared on it to keep it in a loose ponytail. He felt something tickling his back and instantly knew it to be the feathers he liked to wear from his hair tie. Next a pair of leather breeches appeared over his legs, followed by stockings and a pair of sturdy but well-worn leather boots. As his belt materialized he suddenly felt the familiar weight of the pair of long knives that hung from it at his side.
Next came a sleeveless tunic and leather vest. Both showed off his arms, and both were unlaced and open at his chest, exposing the furry cleavage between his pectorals. And archer's bracer appeared suddenly on one arm, comfortable and familiar. A cloak of browns and greens fell across his shoulders, perfect for blending in with the woods, and finally came his bow and quiver, a feeling of comfort and assurance filling his chest as his favored weapon returned to him.
Jeff could remember who he was, but his mind was also filling with new memories and skills. Those of Geoffrey of the wilds - a local ranger, huntsman, and forest guide.
Suddenly one last message flashed across the 'screen' floating before his eyes. "Duration set to 1 year. Should you experience premature incapacitation or death you will be returned to your previous body and location. We do not guarantee this will remain your form for your entire stay and Chronivac can not be held responsible for any unexpected or undesired transformations. Enjoy Chronivac's Genre Package TM." The message winked out and Geoffrey was slowly lowered to the ground, where a wolf was waiting seemingly frozen. He knew the beast, he was his companion through many a hunt. Grey.
As soon as he touched the ground the Chronivac illusion around him vanished and he was left standing in the middle of the village. No one acted like he appeared out of no where, but they were acknowledging his existence. Some even waved and greeted him as an acquaintance if not a friend. Grey just looked up at him expectantly. What was he expecting? A quest marker? With a sigh he looked around, trying to decide where to even start..
