The Mayor sighed. "Send her in."
The alien robot entered his office, in the shape of a large headed human woman, with silver skin and light blue glowing patterns on her body, and while female shape, she lacked details like a doll would.
"Hello Mister Mayor, thank you for seeing me, I am here to finalize the papers for our conversion center to pay the land tax."
It was so... mundane. His secretary was in her wolf form constantly, as was quickly becoming the trend 'no need to hide from anyone anymore' had become the general remark.
The Mayor couldn't help but have a sense of 'dismissal.' The people have Moonlake had engaged in elaborate means to keep their secret safe for centuries. They'd avoided close calls. They'd done what needed to be done...
And all of it undone in an instant by factors beyond their control by aliens who had shown up and causally revealed their existence to the world.
And too top it all off, because aliens had revealed themselves to Earth along with their intent to assimilate humanity over the few centuries via willing converts and simply out competing in the work place those who hadn't converted yet... nobody really cared that werewolves and the like were actually real.
It reminded the mayor of a video game where the horror started out as a reconstruction of Bram Stoker horror, but then halfway through dumped it in favor of Lovecraft horror instead.
Medic Unit toFY4sAjB4 signed the paperwork without incident and handed to the mayor. Along with licenses for giving out pamphlets, on-line, radio, and television advertisements... Also the aliens lawyers had gotten public decency laws allowed the aliens robot to go around 'in the tin' as it was being nicknamed... which had left to plenty of collage students going around 'in the fur' in response.
The Mayor held his head in his hands. He knew getting older meant the world you knew disappearing before your eyes. But he never imagined it would this dramatic... then again, nobody ever did.
