You feel your heart sink and a sorrowful sense of resignation takes you. If there indeed were a cure for whatever it is that's happened to you you wouldn't even know where to begin looking. Furthermore you can't even ask anyone for help. Not only are you alone, but you're unable to form human words with this lion's mouth of yours. With a defeated sigh that comes out of your lion mouth as a chuffing sound you sit down on the floor, accepting of the fact that you're going to become a lion.
Almost as soon as you come to that realization you feel a certain warmth crawling down your back from just beneath your mane and from around your new tail. A very slight ticking sensation follows the warmth as is spreads across your back in both directions. You can guess what's happening. Your getting fur. This is confirmed when the warmth spreads over your shoulders and down your torso. You lift you shirt and confirm that it is now covered in fur. You watch as the small patch of human skin you have left gets smaller and smaller until it eventually disappears. You have to admit to yourself that it isn't an unpleasant feeling.
When the fur begins crawling down you legs and over you rear end, however, you find it necessary to stand. Along with the fur covering them, your body is changing to that of a lion's and it's impossible it continue sitting cross-legged on the floor. Your legs bend and swell in strange ways. Your jeans begin to feel tight as your legs take on the shape of a lion's. You can feel power in your newly changed legs. As your feed change you watch as your cheap tennis shoes split at the seams. You flex your new claws and can't help but smile. I'm a lion, you think to yourself, this time with a sense of pride and anticipation. The changes crawl over you shoulders and down your arms. You gladly lean forward and land on your hands as your body shifts to a quadrupedal stance. You watch with a smile, in your mind if not on your face, as the last vestiges your humanity fade away into an lion's front paws.
You roar again, this time proudly. You're strong, virile and no longer bound by human rules. It takes some doing, but you manage to rip and tear your way out of the human clothes you no longer need. Though now you have the slight problem of being a lion in a human house. You're sniffing your way around the room when the door opens. Through it is a human woman. She leans against the door frame and smiles.
"Well well...someone found the lion mask. Very good choice." she smiles and walks over to you. You reflexively give a low growl as this human dares to step closer. For answer she just smiles.
"Now now...I'm just trying to help." she says and picks up a small box you hadn't noticed before. It looks to be made of wood, painted green with golden trim across the edges. She looks at the back of it and fiddles with what you guess is some sort of dial. Once done she opens the box and holds it out towards you. You feel some unseen force tugging at you towards the box. Your body seems to pull in on itself as you become small enough to fit inside the box. You try and stumble away from the box, but it's no use. Your body is lifted off the ground and your body is pulled into the box which she immediately shuts.
At first it's pitch black, but gradually your vision returns to you. Blurry at first, but with increasing clarity you realize through sight, sound and smell that you're surrounded by golden brown grass. The landscape is dotted with occasional trees. You're in a savanna. Of course you are. Where else would a lion be. In the distance you see a lioness glancing at you cautiously. She begins trotting towards you, surely realizing from your smell that you, like her, are a lion. Once she reaches you she begins rubbing against you and makes chuffing sounds. Clearly friendly. you think to yourself. As you begin licking her on the top of her head, you realize that those will be your last human thoughts. You can't even remember your native language anymore, and you're quickly forgetting the very concept of it. By the time the sun sets and you're sleeping pressed against your mate you're a lion and have forgotten entirely that you were anything else.
