You grudgingly follow Lieutenant O'Conner through the ruined streets. You see other dazed women, likely your former squadmates, being loaded up into troop trucks. You are a little surprised by this, when the Boys had converts they always finished reconditioning and rearmed immediately, then marched right up to the front to fight for their new gender in the War of the Sexes. Down a little further you see what you expected, newly transformed women (easiest to identify by their short hair, as the change only added a few inches of length) being issued new equipment. A pile of mental conditioning helmets sits near by. You realize the first set of women were much better looking, and they must be separating them based on appearance.
You try to ask about this, but you find you cannot speak. You get a syllable out and then the same mysterious force that mad you trip when trying to flee forces your mouth shut.
The two of you approach a running humvee, another rather beautiful woman waiting in the drivers seat. You climb into the back at O'Conner's direction.
As you travel, O'Conner's body language relaxes. 'Sophie, do you remember me? It's Marie'.
Your mouth moves of its own volition. 'I think so. I'm very tired and it is so hard to think. You were special, you did something important.' The voice of your girly body speaks slowly and quietly, sounding exhausted.
This makes the Lieutenant smile. 'I was something important, I was the first success of your Project Hecate. You saved me from them, I am so glad we were able to find you and bring you back. I just wish it hadn't taken so long, the war has not been going well without you.'
Again Sophie answers 'How long has it been? I wasn't aware of much after the Boys processed me.'
Marie winces. 'Five years. They raided your lab and took you five years ago.'
You feel your body tense up. 'The male mind they put in my head is still here, and he is very confused. I can't hear his thoughts and he can't hear mine, but I feel his fear and it is not helping. I'm going to doze a bit, could you explain things to him?'
With that it feels like a weight lifts off you. 'What the fuck did you bitches do to ME!?' you shout as you regain control of your body. 'Who is this fucking cunt you put in my head?!'
Marie has a stun gun pointed at you, and gives a harsh laugh.
'It's Sophie's body, you stole it for five years. You aren't even real, you're just some generic fake male personality squirted into her corrupted body by a conditioning helmet.'
This only upsets you further. 'Bullshit, I'm real, she's the fake. I have a life. I grew up at 1478 Evergr-'
she cuts you off. 'Evergreen Circle in Takoma Washington. Ha, the stupid Boys don't even bother changin up the false history they use on everyone. Ask yourself this, try to remember a birthday party in that house. Or any particular day or event. I know you can't. You might know things from back then, might have a backstory, but I know you have zero actual memories prior to five years ago.'
You want to argue, but she is right. How did you never question this before?
'The person whose body you inhabit and whose mind you share is Sophie Charlotte Marshall. She is the greatest hope of the Girls, and was working on the technology that will win us the war. Or she was until you bastards kidnapped her, twisted her body, and made her a prisoner in her own mind.'
This hurts, and you lash out in anger. 'What hope? You'll all be one of us in less than two years. I hear there isn't a woman left in all of Australia, nor any west of the Rockies.'
The redheaded lieutenant scowls at this. 'Sophie's inventions will change all that. You pathetic Men will come crawling, begging to be freed from your cocks and ugly bodies.'
You laugh at that. 'So high and mighty, but you Girls are too vain to win. I saw you separating the pretty girls out, sending the ugly ones back to the front.'
This makes O'Conner laugh. 'You don't get it. The pretty women were products of Sophie's Project Hecate ray guns. If someone was born a woman, it frees their original mind. It also is much more effective on them and they are much more beautiful and feminine. We don't get unimaginative cannon fodder like the Boys create from everyone they capture, we get real people back.'
This frightens you to the core. You're current state isn't an oddity, it is what they expected to happen. So they will have a plan for you, so that Sophie has her mind to herself.
