Antonio searched through the Chronivac's options, looking at the various ways to alter reality and other people's awareness of what he was doing. Eventually, he found a special set of options that would let him get away with anything, including ridiculous heists.
"Open Home Mode: For all your observation and live editing needs." it read. "All your actions will be considered acceptable and even normal should you want others to go along with it. No one will mind you watching, touching, editing with awareness on, issuing controlling orders, or being places you shouldn't. If you want someone to believe you, they'll do it. Live in other people's houses just fine!"
Well, that'd do it. Why mess around with all the porch piracy when you could just live in with whoever was rich enough to buy stuff? Click, option enabled. With some additional tailoring for options where his gang could follow along without raising any questions and the Chronivac would always make itself available when called up (no more funny business about not being able to use the keyboard mid-transformation), he finally set up the perfect crime: not making it a crime for them to steal! They could pull off people's clothes in the streets, hang out in anyone's houses, and unpackage things right off the store shelves now, leaving other people to clean up the mess.
Changes made, all that remained was to test them...and that meant checking that his gang wouldn't mind anything he did to them. The dudes mostly loitered in the warehouse common area between prowls and the occasional holdup, smoking things and chit-chatting about their latest hauls. The Boss, a buff genius of a black man that was their leader, sat in an open-backed dining chair taken from somewhere or other, looking over a heavily annotated city map and listening to police radio to see if the fuzz was distracted. If he didn't so much as care about this impending 'joke', nobody would.
Antonio slapped Boss' ass loudly, prompting...no reaction, not even a humored aside glance. Antonio was awestruck for a moment, before deciding to go straight to extremes.
"Hey everybody!" Antonio shouted. "Found a miracle machine, we're gonna move into the big leagues and rob the police!"
Rather than confusion, bad jokes, or even excitement...a lot of 'okays' and 'mhms' from the crowd. Well, suppressing people's ability to object to the incredulous does that sort of thing. Antonio summoned the Chronivac, pulled up a 'general instruction order' menu, and typed in that his gang was at the nearby police station living it up to no objections.
Immediately, they were all in the offices of a certain ominous building downtown...and partying as if they didn't care what happened to the place while the regular police staff went about their business, dodging the new interloping residents. Typing in another order, he declared "The policemen in this town are strippers, dancing for the gang's amusement." just to see what would happen.
With a bang and some confetti, suddenly various mostly-old men were on poles and pulling easy-ripoff clothing in an almost comedic fashion...but the gang seemed to like it with intermittent cheers. Welp. Shrugging at his own actions and mildly amused, Antonio wandered around the police station to figure out his next move. Certainly it had the makings of being modded into better digs, and being able to edit whatever he wanted would do the rest.
