Jared, Martin, and Rick grabbed their shower kits and headed down to the showers, unable to think of anything else they could do for the time being. Jared was looking around in wonder as he saw kids of all different ages and animal species running out of their cabins, some heading off to the showers and others running off to get a breakfast. “This is… unbelievable,” he muttered to himself as they arrived at the boys’ showers. They heard the shouting and laughing of rowdy boys inside the shower, distracting them as a handsome older duo of a bear and possum walked down the path behind them toward the counselor showers.
Jared took a deep breath and walked in with his friends, seeing a long communal shower with faucets all around the walls. The others who had arrived early had positioned themselves as far away from each other as possible, since most of them were a little body-shy at their age, and certainly didn’t want to get accused of looking at another guy’s butt in the shower. Jared scanned the boys around the room, instantly putting names to their faces, including Josh the deer, Marco the hare, and Riley the ram, but looked away when he caught Josh glaring at him for watching him shower.
Rick, however, seemed utterly unfazed and dropped his boxers, whistling cheerfully as he found an open faucet and started to scrub up next to Riley. He knew he was the oldest in the cabin, so if anyone had a problem with his body they’d have to say it to his face. Jared and Martin frowned seeing this, and Martin leaned in and whispered, “Hey, isn’t he acting a little weird? I mean, he’s always really shy in the showers when we’re done in gym class.”
Jared started to nod, then he mentally slapped himself to focus. “You mean at the gym! We’re not really a couple of teenagers, remember!?” he whispered back, even though he was having a hard time remembering ever going to the gym with either of his friends.
Martin’s eyes went wide, then he looked worried as he realized that he couldn’t remember what Rick looked like as an adult human… For that matter, he could barely imagine what a ‘human’ looked like. Sort of like a bald monkey or something?
“Argh… Fuck this. I… I need to stop thinking about all this, or I’m going to lose my mind,” Martin muttered as he ran over to a shower faucet and got his fur scrubbed up, and Jared was right behind him. Washing fur was totally different from washing hair or skin, but all three boys found themselves doing it like experts. In fact, the momentary thought that they might only wash the hair on their head completely grossed out the three teens as they shampooed every inch of fur on their youthful bodies.
One they were all nice and clean, the boys walked over to a couple of vents by the door to the showers without thinking and pressed a button, knowing its exact purpose. Warm air blew up through the vents, helping to dry off their fur and get it nice and fluffy after the shower. As they waited for the air to dry them, Jared looked over to his friends and said, “So, now that that’s all taken care of, what about the girls?”
Rick was relaxing with his eyes closed, enjoying the warm air and the feeling of nice clean fur. “Hmm? What girls?” he asked dreamily, unable to clearly remember the faces of the two women they had arrived with barely half a day ago.
“Jackie and Sarah, you dope! What the hell’s the matter with you!?” Martin hissed, his bushy tail whipping around in irritation. For some reason, his annoyance with Rick was keeping him from sinking too far into his teenage mindset, or at least it was slowing the process down. He took a deep breath to calm himself, then tapped his chin in thought. “If we’re teenage boys now, it would make sense that they’re teenage girls, wouldn’t it?”
“So… find the girls’ showers?” Jared said, feeling a mischievous grin creeping onto his face. Rick rolled his eyes at the idea, but didn’t say anything to try to stop them.
Once their fur was dried off, the boys headed back to their cabin and looked for something to wear, but only found the camp uniform of a khaki polo shirt and shorts, along with a scarf that tied around the shirt’s collar. “Ugh… so fucking dorky,” Martin muttered, but slipped the outfit on anyway. “Well, at least it’s comfortable.”
Once the three boys were in their uniforms, they snuck out of their cabin toward the group of cabins that they knew were reserved for the teenage girls at Camp CritterCreek, hoping that they’d be able to run into Sarah and Jackie there. However, the more the three boys tried to remember what the two girls they were looking for looked like, the more a pair of bigger, fuzzier, and more manly shapes slowly started to drift into their memories…
