The Magic Shop

A New Dawn

added 2 years ago O

Colin slipped off the couch and stretched out his arms wide. It looked like it was raining, the cold air hanging over everythi-
“AHHHHHHH!” Colin yelped as he realized there was a woman hunkered up against the sliding glass door.
“Hey, could I come in?” She asked, her ruddy hair dripping wet against her face.

Sam woke to the sound of the shower running and sausage cooking. Colin was back at the stove, making another breakfast... but this breakfast was too big for the two of them, even with Colin’s appetite. And then she walked by; scruffy hair, green eyes, plump thighs and big hips walking gingerly down the halls.
“Hey Colin, where’d you say the washer was?” The girl asked.
“Down the hall, Dawn.” Colin called from the kitchen.
Sam cleared her throat and got their attention.
“You must be Sam! I’m sorry to barge in here, my tent got wrecked by a lady on her horse, it was raining, no supplies, he invited me in...” Dawn explained.
“Did you two... you know?” Sam asked, trying not to sound upset.
“Oh gee, no no no no... I mean your friend’s cute... KIND! He’s kind of cute, I mean cute of kind! Agh!” Dawn blushed.

Sam sighed and took her aside.
“As long as my aunt and uncle don’t figure out you were here, he’s all yours.” Sam smiled; she knew Colin was after her the moment this Dawn chick called her his “friend”.
“Yes! I mean, that’s nice!” Dawn smiled.
“So what’s the plan today, Sam?” Colin asked.
“Well, my uncle would knock you upside the head for letting in a random stranger inside, so we should go get her new camping gear at Larson’s.” Sam replied.
Colin read her face and could tell the romantic stuff between them was put on hold.
“Oh yeah... slipped the ol’ mind there.” Colin chuckled.

At the camp supplies place, Sam made sure nobody got too suspicious about her lover helping out Dawn and pushing a cart of MREs, sleeping bags, and water bottles with a big tent on top.
“You guys camping?” The cashier asked.
“No, my stuff got trashed.” Dawn said, “Came here to take pictures of the park.”
“You must be with that magazine... that...” the cashier paused.
“National Geographic?” Dawn asked.
“YEAH!” The cashier said with a finger snap as Sam tapped her foot impatiently.

As they got their gear to the car, Sam suddenly dove in and covered her face.
“What’s with her?” Dawn asked.
Colin simply shrugged and packed up the camping gear, suddenly hearing the growling of a stomach.
“I know a good Chinese place around here.” Sam smiles.

They tossed their empty containers in the park trash as Dawn grabbed her new gear.
“Thank you guys again, I really appreciate the help!” Dawn smiled as she walked off.

“Well?” Sam asked.
“Well, what?” Colin asked.
“I know you’re into her, go for it!” Sam said.
“But your aunt and uncle-“ Colin started.
“They won’t know you’re gone.” Sam smiled.
“Are you sure you’ll be fine?” Colin asked.
“Come on, I was a Juliet scout AND I’ve got police training, I’ll be fine.” Sam reassured, “Now go, she’s leaving!”
