Theo and Pablo watched as Jose kept going back, becoming more Asian looking as his DNA recrossed the Bering Strait. His skin lightened a little, and his eyes got smaller, with thick folds.
Jose could feel the pace quickening as his body's image marched backwards towards the birthplace of mankind, closer to the middle East and beyond it, Africa. His skin darkened a bit more, and itched as hair once again blossomed under his arms, then on his legs and arms. His physique became even shorter and stockier, his shorts getting tighter.
"You think it's going to stop soon?" Theo said.
"I don't know," Jose replied. His voice was deeper now. A fuzzy beard appeared again on his cheeks and chin, and black hair sprouted on his widening chest. "I hope so, I think it's going back too far!" His brows began to protrude, his eyebrows thickening past their original, Mexican state. His chin began to drop away, hairs appearing on his brown shoulders while thickening everywhere else.
Jose's shorts reached their limit, tearing along the sides as his arms grew stocky and long. Underneath the fabric his genitals were barely visible underneath the fur-like hair. Pablo looked down to see Jose's big toes stretching away from his other toes.
"Jose? Jose!" But all Jose could do now was grunt and gasp. The thick black hair on his chest and stomach reached around his body, joining with the hair on his back and ass, covering him completely, and his knuckles lay down below his knees. Jose had reached the missing link between apes and humans.
