Ethan walked out of Scott's house with Luke and Zack, and was planning to take them back across the street to his own house to greet Luke's cousin. However, they stopped before they even stepped off the porch: Evan was coming across the street to Scott's house, and it looked like he was bringing something with him. With Mark and Max conjoined upstairs, what would happen if Evan saw the twins like that? Zack volunteered to go back inside to warn his family, while Luke and Ethan quickly moved towards Evan.
"Hey, cous!" said Luke as he shook Evan's hand.
"Hey, Luke," Evan replied. "How've you been?"
"Fine, fine," Luke replied.
"Are you unpacked already?" asked Ethan.
"No, uncle," Evan replied. "I decided to see Luke and Zack right away, and since Luke wasn't in the house, I assumed that they were over here. Besides, I wanted to show them this as soon as possible."
Evan held up what he was holding to show it to Luke and Ethan. They took it their hands to get a good look at it, but they soon realized what it was: it was the suit, the same one that Luke had wished for, the one that began all of this. At first, Luke was worried that Evan might have found out, but he didn't look as though he had. Besides, he was alone, so even if he had tried it on, it wouldn't have worked without at least one partner.
"Where did you find this?" asked Luke.
"On your porch wrapped in a ball. No idea what it is, though," Evan replied. "There was this note attached to it that I think is from a friend of yours. I didn't read it since it wasn't mine to read. Here you go."
Evan handed Luke the note, and Luke turned around to open it. The note was from Dean, Kevin, and Allan, their friends that they had lent the suit to. Luke remembered that they were aware of the suit's existence, and of their "secret". The note read:
"Luke,
We don't know if you've noticed yet, but Kevin and I took the suit back to my place. My parents are out of town, so we're at my house. Allan showed up last night and wanted to merge with us, and the three of us tried doing it with the suit. The problem is that after we took it off, Allan didn't separate from us. We decided to just get the suit back to you, since we didn't want to risk making things worse. Maybe you, Max, or your dad could separate us with your powers or something. Just have one of you come over to my place when you get the chance.
Dean."
Luke handed his father the note, and Ethan read it as well. They didn't know what to do at that moment, and they couldn't with Evan still standing there.
"If you guys are busy with something, I'll just go inside and say hi to Zack," Evan said as he walked towards the door.
"WAIT!" exclaimed Luke. Evan looked at him, wondering why he had said it so loudly.
"I..."said Luke. "I, I just wanted to make sure that everything was okay before you said hi to him."
"You didn't while you were in there?" Evan asked.
"Well, mostly," Luke replied. "But then Dad came over, and he wanted me to come back and say hi to you there, and..."
Luke didn't finish the sentence, because Evan was already opening the door. Luke rushed up to try to stop him, but by the time he got to the porch, Evan was already inside. They looked into the living room to find Scott...fully clothed, and walking around on (literally) his own two feet.
"Hey, Evan," said Scott. "Great to see you again."
"Hello," Evan replied.
Zack ran down the stairs to greet his friend, sharing a hug with him as well.
"It's really great to see you again, Evan," said Zack. "A lot has happened."
"I'll bet," said Evan. "Are your brothers upstairs?"
Zack fell silent, and so did Luke. They remembered what Mark and Max looked like a few minutes ago. What if Evan saw them and they were still like that? They tried to think of an excuse, but then a noise came from upstairs, and Evan clearly heard it. He went up the stairs towards the bedroom, with Zack and Luke following close behind, while Scott rushed outside to get Ethan.
Evan knocked on the door, and one of the twins said:
"Who is it?"
"It's Evan," he replied.
"Just a minute!"
The trio heard some rustling, and some creaking, followed by a struggle. Evan couldn't wait any longer, and decided if there was a fight, then someone should break it up. With that, he reached for and turned the handle. Luke and Zack told him to stop, but it was too late. Evan flung the door open, and saw Mark and Max. They were wearing pants, but Evan could see their torso, and their shoulders, and their two feet. He saw that Mark and Max were conjoined twins now, one body with two heads!
