You saw the new student wall in. She looked like she came straight out of a video game you were familiar with, with glistening skin. Her hair looked like it was made of squid tentacles dyed a bright orange with purple tips. She had a very round face and triangle ears, and a domino mask marking around her orange eyes. Besides that she was relatively short with a slender build and developed hips. You could faintly smell the briny scent of squid ink.
Your homeroom teacher Mr Akira strode into the room after, showing no indication that he noticed the new kid’s hair tentacles. “Class,” he announced, “This here is Wendy Tentara, our new transfer student. She comes to us from a remote region in the Pacific. What did you say it was called, again?”
“Ika Archipelago, Mr Akira-sensei sir,” Wendy answered, “Although the government plans to make it much less remote, I heard! It’s gonna be so coral getting to sea the world beyond the archipelago! So much fresh inspiration out here! I’m super excited to get to study with everyone! Maybe I’ll make a new crew of buds here, never know!”
Ika Archipelago, huh? You’ve heard that it’s the county of squid people. You thought it was just a rumor, but it would seem like there was more truth to it than you anticipated.
“Right then, Miss Tentara,” Akira explained to Wendy, “You’ll be assigned to sit next to Mr Doe, the ambiguous young man with the long bangs.”
“Okie dokie,” Wendy nodded as she walked over to her desk. On her way she slipped on her own feet and fell face forward onto the floor. “W... woomy...” she groaned as she stood back up and sat down in her seat.
Fresh new face, and a squid person to boot. Just what was going to happen to this school now?
