The creature arrived at a large mansion on the outskirts of town. It opened the front door.
“Is that you? Have you brought me my prize?” a female voice called. The creature carried Marcia into the large foyer, where a tall, dark-haired woman waited. “Ah, you did! Excellent. Hand her over.” The creature gently deposited Marcia into the woman’s arms. The woman looked down at Marcia. She frowned. “This isn’t Christine. Who are you?”
“Marcia.”
“Marcia? Oh, the troublesome supernatural investigator that keeps harassing all my poor subjects? Hmm. I do still want Christine, but I suppose it’s nice to have you in my custody as well.” The woman looked at the creature. “I sense that the banshee has targeted another. Bring them to me.” The creature rushed away.
“What happen?” Marcia demanded. The woman was dressed in a skintight, short dress the color of blood, with a hole cut to reveal her enormous cleavage. She laughed, tossing her head back. Marcia could see the woman had fangs.
“Oh, sweetheart, you got caught in the crossfire of a war that has raged for generations. It started when Christine’s family took over my ancestral home, banishing me from the place I had poured my heart and soul into. Well, however much of a soul that a succubus has.”
“You a-”
“Yes, I’m a succubus. But not just any. I’m the succubus. Lilith.” Marcia’s mouth dropped open in horror. Lilith was indeed the first succubus, a being whose power was feared by anyone with half a brain. “Christine’s family truly was foolish to mess with me. But they were smart enough to protect themselves. What happened to you tonight was the culmination of a century’s worth of planning.”
“For what?”
“Christine’s family banished me from my old home magically. But I found a loophole. Should her family combine with mine, I would be able to return home.” Lilith shrugged. “It was but one of many possible routes I could take, but the one I liked best. After all, while I am able to turn others into a succubus or incubus, I am barren. I desire a child of my own.” Lilith smiled down at Marcia. “And now, I’ll have two children.”
“Yes,” a voice said. Marcia and Lilith looked over. A man had entered. Marcia could feel the power emanating from him.
“Ah. Elias, my darling,” Lilith said cheerfully. Elias walked over, carrying a bundle. “I see you fetched Christine.”
“Not in the way you wished, my dear,” Elias said. “The banshee was woefully inadequate. She targeted the partner of the babe you are holding. But, as the sun was due to rise soon, and Christine would no doubt increase her protections, I had to take further action.” Elias handed a doll to Lilith.
“You turned her into this?” Lilith asked. Elias nodded. “Hmph. I suppose that we’ll have to wait before we can add Christine to our family, then.”
“I am afraid so.” Elias grinned. Like Lilith, he had fangs. Marcia knew immediately that Lilith’s partner had to be an incubus, the male counterpart of the succubus. “However, given that we already have two children that are tots, we could reduce Christine even more than we originally intended. Maybe even find a way to put her in your womb. After all, now that we have her, we have all the time in the world.”
“You’re so clever, darling,” Lilith cooed. A horrible smell suddenly filled the air.
“Our new son needs a change,” Elias said. Lilith checked Marcia’s diaper.
“As does our new daughter,” she said. “Should we adjourn to the nursery?” Elias nodded. Marcia peeked at the toddler Elias was carrying. It was in fact Rusty, though, unlike her, he was fast asleep, dead to the world and unaware of the fact he’d pooped himself.
As she was being carried to the nursery, Marcia heard Elias and Lilith continue to converse, laying out what they planned to do with Marcia and Rusty. It sounded like Elias and Lilith planned on adopting the two as their own, but…
