"That wasn't bad. Not bad at all", said Erica, nuzzling Jake's ear tenderly. The two lovers were slowly relaxing in each other's arms, wrapped up in warm blankets.
"Heh, that good huh?" said Jake with a smirk, pulling Erica closer to him.
"I didn't say good, I said it wasn't bad", teased Erica, giving Jake a little kiss on his cheek. "But you still have a lot to learn. Especially about taking things slowly".
"And are you ready to teach me?"
Erica smiled and cuddled closer. "We have lots of time for that".
Meanwhile, deep inside Erica's stomach, a fertilized egg began its journey down the young woman's fallopian tubes to implant in her uterus. Jeff drifted off into a pleasant, warm haze of happiness. Little more than a sentient mass of dividing cells, he could only wait out the next stages of his development.
That day a stress-relieving fling turned into something more, and Erica and Jake started seeing each other regularly. Which meant that, when Erica inevitably started suffering from morning sickness, she knew who the father was. And after much thought, she decided to keep the baby.
Jake took the news well, all things considered. After an initial surge of panic and several days of soul-searching, he came to realize that his love for Erica overwhelmed his fear of responsibility that the new baby would bring.
Erica moved into Jake's house within a week, and Jake proposed marriage soon afterwards. Everything was moving rapidly now to ensure that Jeff would be reborn.
But, as ever, unexpected things can happen. The Chronivac remained on Jeff's computer, unchanged, waiting to be discovered as Erica and Jake made preparations for their marriage and their future.
