After the strangely sudden disappearance of his older brother Paul, Barry went out into the yard to look for him.
Set before his shrinkage, he was wearing a thin brown sweater, blue jeans, red argyle socks and black shoes.
“Paul?” Barry called. “Are you here?” He looked all over the yard, but he couldn’t see his brother anywhere.
It was then he caught sight of Paul’s emptied clothing on the deckchair.
“This is strange.” He mused. “Paul would never disappear and leave his clothes behind.”
About then he heard his neighbour, Colin Copford, saying, "I wish to shrink!"
Crouching down, in front of the fence, so that Colin didn’t see him eavesdropping, Barry watched Colin shrink.
He watched as Colin’s shoes and socks came off of his feet, landing on the deck.
"Wow!" Colin said, wriggling his toes in amusement and glee. "I'm getting smaller!"
Barry watched as Colin Copford got smaller and smaller, disappearing into his clothes.
“That’s impossible.” Barry muttered. “People don’t just shrink like that.”
Suddenly, Barry began to feel dizzy. He put his hand on the deckchair to steady himself.
“Ugh, I don’t feel so good...” Barry moaned. Everything seemed to be spinning around him.
Then, it slowed to a stop, and then, there was a poof, and Barry vanished, his clothes dropping down into a heap on the lawn, as if it was a cheap magic trick.
When Barry awoke, he found himself in a thick brown cave. When he climbed out, it only took him one 10th of a second to realise what had happened to him - he’d been shrunk to the size of a ant! And the ‘cave’ he had been in was his huge sweater!
“Oh my god!” Barry exclaimed. “I’ve been shrunk! I’m tiny!”
And it wouldn’t be long till he saw his brother and their neighbor Colin at bug size too.
