Dylan caught his eye on some strange sort of nose and mouth piece. He dug it out to see what exactly it was. It looked like some sort of reptilian nose, except the scales were red, and the nostrils were flaring a bit more than an average lizard. He didn't know any reptile that had those distinct features. "What even is this animal?" After saying that, Dylan noticed a tag hanging off the end. The label on the tag had the word 'Dragon' written on it. "Huh. Guess that makes sense." Dylan felt all around the snout. The scales felt rough, and the forked tongue felt slimey. Even the teeth on it was sharp enough to punctuate his thumb. "Ow! Damn!" He pulled his hand away surprised by the feeling. His thumb started bleeding out of the tip. "They really don't mess around with the quality of these things..." Dylan says shaking his hand in pain.
Dylan got a band-aid from the bathroom cabinet and returned to his room. "Now, to see how it looks." Dylan picked up the snout and looked in the full view mirror in his room. He placed the snout over his nose and mouth, smelling a strange aroma from inside. Not bad, but not particularly good either. "Maybe I should have washed this before I tried it." He said with his voice muffled through the mask. The smell didn't really bother him though as he got a good view of what the snout looked like. "Huh, actually that looks pretty cool." He says with his voice still muffled. Dylan was amazed at how good the mask looked, he didn't even realize that he let go and that it was holding up against his face.
"Yeah, these should work fine for... Huh?" Dylan realized the mask was holding itself against his face as he started to have trouble talking. "Huh... Maybe that smerl irs ther adhesmmmm... Mm!?" Dylan's whole mouth was suddenly fully muffled within the mask. Not only that, but it felt like his face was stretching itself out to accomodate the size of the snout. Dylan took the effort to try and pull it off, but it only ended up hurting him as he didn't realize the scales were merging with his skin. It was all surreal. His eyes were closed the whole time thinking his breath would be taken away at any moment, but that wasn't the case. In fact, while he could breath, he could smell the scent from inside the mask disappear as the scent of pine trees from outside flared in his nose.
Dylan finally forced himself to open his eyes as if waking up from a horrible nightmare. But when he opened it, he saw the mask in front of his face with smoke coming from the nostrils. "Huh... What is..." Dylan felt funny when he started talking, like his mouth and jaws all moved at once when he tried speaking. "Wait... This doesn't feel right." He realized his voice wasn't muffled in the mask. He could feel everything. His jaws felt longer, his tongue felt thinner, and his whole mouth felt rough... Like scales. Dylan looked to the direction of the mirror to see the same mask he put on... Only to find it completely fused with his face. "No fucking way..." He saw the mask move as he talks. "THIS IS MY FACE?!" He yelled out loud as he let out a breath of smoke from his new monstrous jaws.
Dylan didn't move for a whole five minutes. He had to process what could have made this happen. Were these costume pieces really magic? Were they even considered costumes? "This... I don't believe it!" Dylan felt his heart skip a couple beats registering the situation. All he could do was stare, with his eyes wide open and his dragon jaws dropped. Another minute passed before reality caught up to him."This... THIS IS THE COOLEST THING EVER!" He says looking at his reflection finally pulling out a smile. Dylan was so ecstatic about the whole thing, he was pulling off a couple of different expressions in the mirror. Even getting a feel for his long forked tongue. He gave one last smug smirk in the mirror which increased his satisfaction.
He looked over at the box laying comfortably on his bed and made a toothy smile through his snout. "This is amazing! Wonder what other cool peices you got." Dylan says wondering what comes next.
