“All right, let’s get to work,” Tina says firmly. Grant nods. Suddenly, he gets a look of concentration on his face. “What are you-” Grant grunts loudly. Tina stares at him in horror. He’s messing himself again, this time on accident, while she’s holding him! “Grant!”
“Gotta…poop,” Grant says in between grunts. Finally, he finishes grunting. He sighs in relief. There’s a soft hiss.
“Did you pee, too?” Tina asks, exasperated.
“Yes.”
“Great,” Tina mutters. “Now I’ve got to change you.” She goes to the women’s bathroom. “Good thing I brought a diaper bag for you.” Tina puts Grant on the changing table. “You owe me big time, Grant.”
“It was an accident!”
“I’m still changing your gross diaper,” Tina says, opening the diaper. She wrinkles her nose at the smell. “Yep. Gross.” Grant suddenly squirms. “What now?”
“I’m bored!”
“You’re-” Tina groans. “Fine. Here.” She pulls a pacifier out of the diaper bag and pops it into Grant’s mouth. Grant suckles on it happily. He stops squirming. Tina removes the diaper, wipes Grant down, and clumsy tapes a fresh diaper on. “All done.”
“Yay,” Grant says around his pacifier. His stomach rumbles. “I’m hungry.”
“Ugh.” Tina picks Grant up. “I’ll get you something to eat in a second.” She leaves the bathroom and looks around. Her eyes land on some strollers for visitors to use. She grabs a stroller.
“What are you-” Grant starts.
“Stop squirming all the time,” Tina hisses, buckling Grant into the stroller. She reaches into the diaper bag and pulls out a box of crackers. “Here. Eat up and shut up.” Grant hands Tina his pacifier, which she puts back into the diaper bag.
Tina pushes the stroller towards the score, Grant happily eating his crackers on the way. Before they get there, Grant begins to make noises again.
“What now?” Tina snaps.
“I want my binky,” Grant whines. Tina hands him the pacifier. He puts it in his mouth and suckles on it. By this point, Tina is reconsidering her decision to do this score. Clearly, the change is mentally affecting Grant a lot, and she’s not sure any amount of money is worth taking care of him.
Is it?
