Betty sighed, sitting down at the table with the book propped up nearby. "Sigh, I wish I could be young and hip again." She laughed, when the book began to glow slightly. Curious, she opened it up and hear a message in her head. "Multiple complex unaware changes have been used, use this spell to resolve." It read as a new spell appeared called "resolve" which betty found odd.
"That's strange, I haven't made any changes tonight?" Betty wondered.
She thought for a moment more, but decided that it was too risky. They made a rule after all to not use the book without others, and she was going to follow it.
"Bad idea." She mumbled, leaving the book on the table. "What kind of idiot would risk changing everyone without being absolutely sure it will work out?" She chuckled before sitting down to some tea.
Meanwhile, upstairs, a strange encounter was unfolding. Two teenage girls were sitting in a room, unaware of how mixed up everything was. Sitting on the bed, looking rather nervous, was "Alana" who of course knew she was really Alan. He brushed his now long hair to the side and tried to avoid eye contact with his "Crush" who was sitting on the desk chair.
What Alan didn't know was that his crush Janet had been his mother not long ago. She was youthful again, and living the life of Alan's real crush, though the original was now out in the yard looking to mate with a poodle.
"Dammit Mark." Alan thought, pissed off and scared simultaneously. "What the hell do I even say? I'm not a girl... or at least not supposed to be. I'll just come off as a clueless moron if I try to say anything."
"Hmm, why does Alana seem so nervous?" Janet wondered. "Usually when she has friends over that's when she always seems to most social. Well, come now Janet, time to help your daughter out. Whatever is bugging her, you can find out in the best friend sort of way." She guessed internally.
"So! When are the others coming over?" Janet asked, moving the rolling chair closer to Alan.
Alan stiffened. In reality, he had decided NOT to invite anyone else over. For one reason, when he went through his new contact list he had found most of girl him's friends were all generally bitchy, popular girls with a few exceptions. Maybe they had just been bitchy to Alan as a guy, but he didn't want to deal with that. Secondly, he figured it'd be easier to just talk with Janet to get more info out of her. He unfortunately didn't come up with an excuse.
"Oh, um, they'll be here soon!" Alan lied.
"Shit." Janet thought. "If I'm gonna learn about what Alana likes in boys and if she's done anything I better do it soon."
"Soooo, while we wait, what do you wanna talk about?" Janet asked.
"U-uh, um, w-well...." Alan stuttered. "Do you wanna talk about guys?" Alan finally got the nerve to ask.
"Oh, definitely!" Janet chuckled, happy her daughter was being open with her, even if it was while she was in the life of Alana's bff. "You go first." She smiled.
"Shit, didn't think that through." Alan thought, realizing he had to make something up quick. "Well, uh, I tend to like, blond guys?" He said.
"Blond huh?" Janet asked with a smirk.
"Y-yeah." Alan laughed. He decided to try and describe himself, maybe to test the waters a but. "Blond, tall, and a b-bit dorky." He chuckled, embarrassed at talking about himself to his crush.
"Really, didn't expect you to be into dorks!" Janet laughed, internally relieved that her daughter wouldn't be going after any dick heads.
"Well, you know, I'm full of surprises! Wh-what about you? Would you date a dork?" He asked.
"Oh definitely. Those kinda guys are always so sweet and kind." She replied. Although Janet usually went for muscular jock types, as George is compared to her fat former husband now poodle, Steve, she wanted to make Alana feel good in her choice.
"She likes dorks she likes dorks!" Alan's mind screamed repeatedly. "I can't believe it I'm her type!" He internally laughed. "Okay, cool it, stay calm Alan... but dammit now I just wanna get close to her, but I can't do it like this."
"Say, um, I'd love to continue, but there's something I need to do first." Alan chuckled.
"Oh, like what?" Janet asked, curious what her daughter may be hiding.
"I-it's nothing really! It's stupid actually." Alan replied, unknowingly twirling his hair around.
"Oooo sounds secret, now you gotta show me!" Janet said, standing up from her chair.
Alan wondered how he was gonna keep her here at first, but then realized that this could be his shot! He'd turn himself back to normal while keeping Janet's awareness off for it, then show off some cool spells!
"Fine, if you gotta see it." Alan laughed, blushing. "But I gotta warn you, it's gonna be hard to believe." He replied.
Now Janet was worried. They all promised to keep the book a secret only for their immediate family. It could be something else, but was Alana about to show her the book?
"Ok then." Janet said, hiding her concern.
Janet then began to follow her daughter outside the room. Janet became more and more concerned, until finally her fears were realized as Alana was making a direct b-line for the book which was currently sitting on the dining room table. She began to run through scenarios in her head. If she told her the truth, then she'd be a hypocrite who would not be trusted again. If she didn't do anything, however, who knows what kind of unaware messes would happen?
"Okay, so this is gonna sound weird..." Alan said, lifting up the book.
