Year 6792 of Immortality
Infinity: a concept so frightening, yet so very intriguing. My friends, may I be the first to tell you that infinity is no concept or theorem, it is a law that reality abides by. Think of anything, just come up with a story or random event right here, right now. Whatever story you just made up in your mind has happened or will eventually happen anytime and anywhere, no matter how improbable it may seem.
Now, before I start rambling on and on about infinity for, well, infinity, (because that's how long it would take to explain), I should probably get to the story. And more importantly, I should introduce myself.
My name is Christopher, and I am a wizard. Although you may look at me and see a dashingly handsome young man in his early 20's, I am actually thousands of years old. I was taken from Earth in the year 2019, when I was about 15 years old. I had been selected, among many other young individuals, to learn magic and to leave Earth so I could explore our universe in search of....
Well, I don't really know what I'm looking for in the first place. After so many years alone, drifting from planet to planet, selling my wares to anyone why might buy them, I started telling myself that no matter how hard I tried, I would be bored for the rest of my life, which, as you could probably tell already, will last for infinity.
When I was first taken to become this powerful being I am now, I was frightened. Not because of the whole wizard thing or the fact that I was being taken away from my family, but by the fact that I would live forever. Now, don't get me wrong, I didn't have a death wish or anything back then, but I did have Apeirophobia; the fear of infinity.
I've gotten past the whole fear thing, but now I'm just plain fucking bored. I've had so many chances to go and see the universe in its entirety, so many years of waiting for the right moment to free myself from the shackles I had bound myself to, but I never once had the courage to go and be free.
But now, my dear reader, I'm taking action. I have no idea what inspired me to do this after thousands of years of waiting; but I do know that I need to shake this fear off and do something. So, I've decided to go back to my roots: Earth. I will go there and search for the answers that I've been looking for ever since I was 16 years old. And I WILL find the answer, no matter the cost.
In our universe, Earth is a very interesting place. Its solar system is the one place in the entire universe that doesn't abide by laws of time. Scientists from many different planets have spent years of their lives searching for an answer as to why this one spot in the universe doesn't abide by our flow of time, but to no avail. But the whole thing is very interesting indeed.
If you wanted to get to Earth, all you have to do is pick a specific spot in that solar system's timeline to go to and simply go. (Of course, you do need the proper equipment to do this). I'm currently right by the barrier that leads into the solar system, and I plan to go to the year 2021. This whole pandemic thing going on seems like an interesting situation to find myself in. (And by find myself, I mean to search my psyche and hunt down the meaning of life like a bloodthirsty wolf). I do believe that if I were to not have been taken, I would be 17 at this point in time. What an interesting thought.
Oh well, now isn't the time to dwell on those kinds of thoughts. I need to get going. I'm not going to write in my journal until I leave Earth, so I'll report my findings to you all as soon as I am done. Farewell, dear reader. I hope you find what you're looking for in life.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Chris closed his journal and set down his pen, as a faint sigh escaped his lips. He was finally doing it. He was going to be free. Obviously he was free already, but he was finally going to free himself from whatever was holding him back before. He got up, stretched and started walking to the front of his ship.
He had already located the perfect spot to set up shop: a small suburban town called Blueflower Grove. It was perfect, a small yet bustling town that housed many people of all shapes and sizes. And even better, everyone there was Covid-Free at the time!
Chris sat down and began making his way to his new home. As he passed the barrier to Earth's solar system, he felt a sudden jolt of energy pass through him, as if he had just woken up from a nightmare. He shook it off and set the ship to autopilot, relaxing as he dozed off. "Everything is going to be fine." He told himself, before he started dreaming of a better, more temporary life; a dream that gave him hope that there was a was to become mortal again and finally rest in the cold embrace of death.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------//One Week Later//---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The Croaking Toad was certainly a strange establishment, and for most of the people of Blueflower, strange meant dangerous. The store had showed up seemingly overnight at the local mall, and for the whole week it had been there, it wasn't open a single day.
Some people swore that they could hear someone speaking nonsense while they passed by the place, and others thought that they felt an otherworldly presence.
The local police had no reason to look into the strange situation, so this shop was just sitting there, the inside dark and gloomy, the outside normally barren of any people.
Many people were intrigued, to say the least, and one fateful night, someone decided to break into the place to see what secrets it held.
But who?
