With the emitter pointed directly at Brian, the Chronivac shoots a beam, hitting Brian square in the chest. He stumbles back a little. It doesn't hurt, but it caught him off guard, and feels oddly warm.
"Dude, what the hell was that!?", Brian shouted at Demi, almost regretting his prior eagerness.
"Hell if I know, I don't even know what this thing is..." He replied, inspecting the device in his hands.
Brian sat down on the leather couch beside his friend, taking out his phone to see if he could find anything about the mysterious device. As he sat there, he felt a mysterious feeling in his socks. His skin turned a pale yellow color under his socks, gaining an increasingly rough texture. He absentmindedly scratched at it, unaware of the changes until they progressed further. His feet began to cramp up, causing him to adjust his socks. They continued to grow, his toes reducing from five to three, as his nails grew to become sharp talons. A fourth talon grew from the back of his heel, giving him support to stand.
"Ugh, there's nothing on the internet about this stupid computer, I don't—" Brian was interrupted as his socks burst open, revealing his massive talons.
"What the fuck?!!" The two boys screamed in comic unison.
"Uhm... Are those bird feet?" Demi stammered, trying to process the situation.
Brian flexed his large feet, remarking how weird they felt as he felt them clack on the hardwood flooring. Under his pants, the changes progressed. Dark green feathers sprouted along his legs, causing quite the itch as they grew. They eventually made it up his thighs, making them look a touch larger, and started to stick out of his pants. With a 'pwoompf', tailfeathers sprouted just above his pants, sticking out down below.
"I think that answers our question..." Brian said to the currently shocked Demi.
The feathers continued to sprout along his body, travelling up under his shirt and rippling along his torso. They eventually reached his arms, giving his whole body a green iridescent shine. As the feathers washed over his arms, they flared out, creating wing like accents along his forearms. His hands felt like they were separating, becoming a strange blend between hand and wingtip, still flexible and able to grip, but quite a bit weaker than a human's.
"I wonder if you could fly now?" Demi asked.
"That would be nice, but I'm still a SQUAK— bird..." Brian slapped his wings over his mouth, embarrassed. Demi laughed.
Instead of meeting his mouth like he'd expected, Brian's wings hit something tough. His nose and mouth grew outwards from his face, forming a yellow-ish pointed beak, meeting away from his face as the structure of his mouth changed. Very short, fine feathers decorated his head, with green on the outside, and lighter off-white feathers on his face. Brian was now a strange bird-human hybrid, staring in shock at his body with his beak agape, and the brown hair on his head messy.
"So, how is it, birdbrain?" Demi teased.
"S-shut up! It feels weird..." Brian says as he stood up on his talons, unbalanced and unfamiliar with his new form.
"This is not how I expected this sleepover to go..."
Demi looked at the device in his hands once more, mind swimming with possibilities. This sleepover just got a lot more fun...
