Later that night while Alex was sitting at home bored out of his mind he went outside to walk around his yard as if expecting somthing to happen. He noticed on his way back up to the house that a small box had been deposited on the front steps. It was addressed to his father who wasn't expected home for another two weeks from his trip to Japan for some sort of meeting for the overseas branch of the firm he was working for. Alex didn't think his father would mind if he oppened his box before he got home. After all Alex had done it several times before and his father barely seemed to notice that the box had been resealed. If he did notice he called the post office and blammed them. It was as if he never even acknowledged his sons existence as anything more then some red ink on his ledger.
Alex took the box up to his room. The small bare room was barely a living space. it contained a bed a dresser and a laptop compter on the floor next to the bed. Alex sat upon his bed and pulled out a utility knife which he had somehow conviced his dad he didn't need anymore. De drug the sharp blade across the brown tape which sealed the box closed. Inside he found an odd glove of sorts.
It had worm eaten leather and dull old metal wrapped intricately around it as if it were to provide some form of protection to the wearers hand. It had the smallest of emeralds near the wrist of the gauntlet that almosted seemed to have avoided the fate of the rest of the glove. It had been wraooped in an old cloth rag which had been writen on in some strange language which Alex couldn't understand.
He looked at it curiously for a moment and then put it upon his hand. The world seemed to shift for a moment and then spin. for a second Alex thought he was going to throw up. He ran to the bathroom as best he could where he did throw up. Then he passed out.
