Molly ended up asking her Mother directly a couple of nights later when her mother had rung her "Mum, Am I adopted?"
"Of course not!. I can vouch for that. You were a very difficult birth"
"Do I have a twin?"
"What do you mean?"
"Do I have a twin sister?"
"Definitely not. Why are you asking?"
"Because there is a girl at the school here who looks just like me"
"Well... I have heard of people having lookalikes... I suppose you have found yours. I can't say I have ever found my own"
"She was born in our town as well"
'Well maybe she is some distant relative? What's her surname?"
"Morrisey"
"No relations I know of. I did have a friend Susan with that name. She used to babysit you when you were tiny. I remember she left town very suddenly and I have never heard anything from her since. I can't recall her having a daughter though, all I remember was that she had inherited responsibility for a teenage nephew, when his parents were killed in a tragic accident. Anyway how is everything else going? Are you keeping out of trouble?"
When Molly rang her Mother she also raised the subject "There's a new girl at school who looks really similar to me. She's really cool and she has signed up for the hockey team"
"Is she nice?" asked Susan
"I think so. I'm her buddy. On her first day she had purple hair but the school made her change that"
"And so they should. It's important that you girls learn to look and behave like ladies"
"Yes Mother"
"And how are your studies going? Remember one day I expect you to take over your step father's business. You need to continue to get good marks to prove that you are capable"
"All good. We haven't had any tests yet but I do my two hours study every night" It could be said that Susan was a Gold digger. She was a stunning looking woman, actually 45 but looked to be in her early 30's. Geoff was her 3rd husband. Each subsequent husband was wealthier than the last. That's how Susan formerly an uneducated single mother could afford to send Jennifer to the best school in the state. Susan's set very high expectations for Jennifer. She was expected to excel at everything she did.
