He ignored the warnings and clicked the final confirmation button, and waited for the change to start. He hadn't read the prompts, or the warnings that indicated the settings were not properly configured...it was possible that the best contribution Mike could make to the human race was exiting it.
Unfortunately for other people, Mike wouldn't exit the human race by himself...he had made it so that every dog would become human and the new owner of their former masters. Of course, the population of humans in the United States alone was over three times that of the dog population...so some humans would go on as they were.
He looked down at Jake. He'd been absent-mindedly stroking the pit bull's head as he set the various settings. The dog watched him with the happy, yet vacant stare of a loving pet, his tongue hanging out of his mouth as he panted.
As he watched, Jake stopped panting, and closed his mouth. He started to head toward the kitchen. "Where are you going, boy?" Mike asked, getting up to see, and stumbling to the ground, discovering his legs could no longer support him upright.
