“This way, gentlemen…” Dr. Jones said, as he led Teddy and Jack into the small examination room. “Please… sit down on the medical examination table, over here…”
Teddy and Jack had already figured out that in order to get around, it was easier to allow one person to control the legs, while the other controlled the arms. So, Teddy controlled the legs while Jack controlled the arms.
“What did you do to us? You turned us into a freak!” Jack shouted.
“My body! It’s gone! It’s like… My body’s part of his body or something!” Teddy gasped.
The doctor checked their heartbeat, their blood pressure, and he took their temperature. After he had taken all their vital signs, he allowed them to step on the scale so he could check their weight.
“Not so bad… You guys are six-foot-one, and two-hundred pounds… You guys are looking pretty good, otherwise…” Dr. Jones smiled.
“Huh? We are?” Teddy wondered.
“Well, you each were shorter and smaller at first, but now that you guys have been merged together, you’ve actually gained height and muscle. In addition, you’ve put on a few more pounds. Other than that, you guys seem perfectly healthy to me… I don’t see anything wrong with you, other than the fact that you two boys have been conjoined…” the doctor explained. “The teleportation experiment may have failed, but the result is quite fascinating!”
“But… But… We’re STUCK! I’m stuck to Teddy! How long do I have to stay like this?” Jack argued.
“You two will have to stay this way until I figure out a way to separate you. Until then, all I can say is… Just make the best of it!” Dr. Jones shrugged. “Just look at it like this: You two will never be alone!”
“Wow! You mean…” Teddy wondered.
“You two boys will end up having to eat together, sleep together, shower together, take a bath together, go to class together, go to work together, go to the gym together… Everything! You share the same body, even though you each have your own head!”
Both Teddy and Jack’s jaws dropped wide open as they turned and stared at each other for a few moments.
“Whoa!” Jack said.
“Uhh… Well, at least we’ll get a discount when we go to the movies!” Teddy chuckled.
“Alright… You can get off the table and get dressed. I know that you’ve gotten a little bigger, so you may not fit into your clothes, so I’ve found some white t-shirts for you to wear, along with a pair of sweatpants…” Dr. Jones said, as he opened the door. A nurse walked in, holding a pile of folded clothes in her hand. “Lastly… A large amount of money was deposited in your checking accounts about an hour ago. Congratulations! You guys are very, very rich!”
Jack and Teddy just stared at each other and smiled. The thought of having become millionaires actually didn’t make it seem all too bad after all. It made being conjoined almost seem worth it.
“Thank you, Doctor… Please call us, if you find out anything…” Jack said, as he shook his hand.
“Thanks, Doc!” Teddy added.
The two boys got dressed and then they walked out of the lab. They got into Jack’s car, and Jack took over their body, so he could drive.
They drove back to their condo. Luckily, they were roommates, so they already lived in the same place. Now they had to sleep in the same bed, eat from the same plate, and take showers together…
