John had high hopes for the game now. There was no change his team could lose with this raw strength on their side. That being said the other team did look sharp and ready. After a rather lackluster speech in which John barely avoided using puns he and his team went to the field. If John had payed better attention to his team then he could have seen the tell tale signs that this game was not going to be as easy as he had hoped. Especially Mark was less fluent in his movements with his Gorilla improvements.
Once on the field the game started it became clear that there was a problem. Steve and Lance being part wolf did rather well. Their new form only had gifted them with some more speed and a more athletic build. Mark and Wyatt proved to be an other story all together. They were a really powerful sight to see and John was sure the other team was afraid of them. It seemed however that being only 20% of an short legged animal slowed them down without allowing them to shift to a new stance to make up for it.
Adding wolfs, bulls, horses, bears and a gorilla also did not improve the team cohesion. Even if they did not remember the change they were not trained to preform in their new shapes or together for that matter. The opponent team made quick advantage of this flaw in the team and John soon saw them losing to this weaker group of humans.
John had to do something because this was going south way too fast. He decided that he could either pull back and count his losses or double down in his plan and increase the percentage. The choice was clear, there is no fun in going back on something like this right. So as soon as he could John retreated back to his computer and filled in the program. 60% would be overdoing it but he needed to make a noticeable change. If 20% was not enough then maybe 40% would do.
After filling in the changes John went back to see them occur. The changes first happened to Steve and Lance. In addition to their already existing features their heels started to raise with their clothes changing to fit their new hindquarters. Their hands also went through some changes adding pads and sharp claws. Even their faces pushed slightly out adding to the wolfish visage their ears already betrayed.
Going from 20% to 40% also had a profound effect on Mark and Wyatt. Their stances changed from 2 feet to dropping to all 4. Hair grew all over their bodies. Mark became very apelike in his look and stance. He even bared his fanged teeth to the opponents a few times and John could seem them become pale in shock as a response. Mark was still mostly human but only barely. Much of the same had happened to Wyatt but instead of becoming more apelike he had become more bearlike. John would have made fun of him being a real pooh but the boy had changed much more into a fearsome beast then a teddy bear.
Lastly were Jeff and Dennis. Jeff his shoes disappeared because his nails had fused into hooves granting him much more speed on the field. A long tail had also formed behind the boy but this was of no practical use in the game. Lastly his neck and face were pushed out into a small muzzle leaving him long faced. Dennis is horns had grown out more and his skin had roughed up significantly in the short while the changes took place. Otherwise his changes were very similar to those of Jeff.
The new "improvements" to the team did have the desired effect John had hoped for but it came somewhat larte. In the end all the changes did was put the team back in the game. They were already set back by their initial failures. John could sit the rest of the game out and hope they will pull through or he could change the opponent team into something weaker.
