Nora stopped quickly. She'd been in such a rush to grab as much as she could she'd forgotten shoes. She'd grabbed several pairs and shoved them into the bag, but the largets pair was still left since she hadn't been able to fit them at the time. They were a pair of pink galoshes, just the same color as her raincoat, big and clumpy as they were, she'd need them once outside.
They were a bit heavy, and more than a little dinged up from when Amy had worn them but they'd do so she didn't just go barefoot going home. Similar to the blanket, she got an odd feeling holding them, but not one of security, one of some sense of luck. She shook her head at these strange new thoughts, hoping against hope some weird thing wasn't happening to her adult brain while packed into a child's small skull.
Nora knew better than to put them on in the house so she just held them in her chubby fingers. Taking a breath she stole to the door. She'd made a little sound, but not as much as before, and so no one seemed to hear her.
