Alex answers his phone, hearing his mom on the other side. "Alex, where are you?"
"Um, I'm at home." At that moment, Alex was whisked away from the streets to his house. Because he was wearing the Ring of Truth on his left hand, though, he wasn't aware that he had previously been late getting home from football practice.
"You didn't answer the phone."
"Oh, I didn't hear it." This one was true one way or another.
"Turn on the microwave. I wanna know you're really home."
Alex rolled his eyes. Sure, he was late getting home sometimes, but he knew he had to be home early today. He pressed some buttons, making sure the beeps were heard on his phone.
"Okay, I believe you. Did you walk the dog?"
"Uh, yeah." He was lying. Wait, no, he actually did.
"Okay, just make sure you're ready in half an hour. We're leaving for your aunt's wedding and I don't want you smelling like a dirty pig."
"Alright, I'll get a shower and be all changed." With that, Alex hung up and headed to his room. Little did he know that his last statement would change his life forever, though he wouldn't be aware of it.
After tossing aside his football gear, he headed to the bathroom, stripped, and tossed his sweaty clothes into the hamper. He started to take off the ring, as well, but something mentally stopped him.
