Doug threw the dice. A seven landed him on a blue square. Even though it had happened three times before, he was startled by the flash of light as the card appeared before him. He paused before picking it up, nervous to see his fate.
The card read: "It is comforting to have your mommy on this quest, she provides all you need."
Doug shook his head. "Well that's just factually true," he said, turning to Jeane. "Isn't that right, mom?"
The rest of the table sat in stunned silence. Jeane especially looked at her boyfriend in bafflement, and then started giggling.
"This is crazy," she said. "Honey, do you think I am your mom?"
"I mean...yeah?" Doug looked at the rest of the table. "What do you mean? Who else would you be?"
Ernest piped up. "Blue cards cause mental changes. I'm thinking that it's probably not a super great idea to challenge what he's thinking. To Doug right now, Jeane is and always has been his mom."
"Oh dang," Jeane said. "I always thought Doug would be the one to make me a mother, but not like this!"
A voice spoke in the back of Doug's head, as it had to the others. "You have to drink mommy's milk every round to make sure you stay big and strong!"
Doug's eyes widened at the message. He couldn't believe what it was saying. Sure, he'd nursed before, but he was a grown man now! He wasn't going to suck on his mom's chest in front of all his friends!
Jeane noticed Doug's reaction to the message. "Did you get a voice too? What did it say?
Doug looked at his mom. "Um...it's embarrassing. And I'm not gonna do it."
"What do you have to do?" Rhonnda asked.
"It says I have to breastfeed every round to stay 'big and strong,' whatever that means." Doug averted his gaze from his friends.
Rhonnda burst out in laughter. "That is precious!"
"I'm not going to do it in front of you all! I'm a grown man, I don't nurse anymore..."
"Well," Art said, playing with his paws. "I guess we will see what happens when the round is over. I think it is your turn, Rhonnda."
Rhonnda stopped chuckling in realization. "Are you sure you don't want to do what the voice told you? It might be fun!"
Doug shook his head, having made up his mind.
Rhonnda sighed. She took the dice, giving them a good shake before she rolled...
