As Rick started up the car, Emily asked, "wait, where are we going again?"
Rick replied, "don't you remember? You're starting college soon, so we were going to head to the campus and look at the housing situation."
Emily started to nod, then shook her head. "No, mom- Rick. Remember! We met at college. We're adults. You're a man."
Rick froze, stopping to think things through. "Right... we're getting new memories from the camera. Which was just used again by..."
"My father."
"Wait is James even home yet? Wait, no! Your girlfriend, Paula! I mean Paul! ... Wait, if she has the camera, why didn't you go with her!?"
"Look, it's been a really confusing day, and the last thing I need is to go off drinking with my party girl babe- dad! Let's just... let's write some kind of note so we quit forgetting what's real and make sure the camera isn't still here?"
Hours passed. At some point, Rick's husband James from this version of reality came home, surprising him with a kiss in what was becoming a recurring pattern, but he at least agreed to help search. There was no sign of the camera though, as it was indeed still with Emily's former father, who eventually showed up again around 10 o'clock.
"Hey babe! Missed a great party!" she shouted as she rolled out of the back of the car, stumbling towards Emily.
"Oh, hey babe... you uh... didn't happen to take any pictures when you were out, did you?"
"Oh yeah, plenty! Here, let me show you!" Emily's eyes went wide in horror, but then her former father withdrew a normal looking cellphone, and started swiping through shots of her and her friends doing shots, diving into a pool, and trying on each other's clothes.
"Oh," said Emily. "So you didn't go taking any with that older camera I left out?"
"Nah, I tried a selfie with it before I left, but I mean, there's no screen on this thing! How are you supposed to tell you're in frame right? And the flash is so bright! Ooh, bet it'd work great for outside here though. Pose, babe!"
Before Emily could stop her, Paul took her picture. She grabbed the camera back as it was developing, waiting to see what changed this time. She didn't seem too much different herself, although she was in an evening dress like her former father's and felt like she had a bit of a buzz... was anything else different?
"So! We have this whole place to ourselves for the weekend, right? Just need to pick up your parents from the airport on Monday?" Emily's onetime father gave a mischievious little grin. "Wanna go mess around on their waterbed?"
