You aren't quite sure how long you trotted along the fenceline, but the sound of an owl hooting snapped you out of your gleeful clopping through the underbrush and you realized it was twilight, almost fully dark! A rustling in the limbs above you gave you a direction in which to point the device, and as the blue light flashed you heard the frantic flapping of enormous wings. The image of an owl appeared on the screen and you contemplated how next to alter your form, tapping your beak with one of your ant-arms thoughtfully.
"Hmm, wings? I mean, that would be cool, obviously... but would it change my hands or would they come out of my back as new limbs?" you scrolled through the options for a while before glancing up from the screen and realizing it was now completely dark out - you couldn't see your hand in front of your face! Realizing it wouldn't be any fun changing yourself if you couldn't see what was happening, you instantly realized what part of the owl you should utilize: it's eyes! And if you can see in the dark, you should be able to find more nocturnal animals to poach from as well!
Scrolling back up to the head of the bird on the display, you highlight the owl's eyes. Turning the device around and making sure to close your human eyes tightly to avoid the flash, you pull the trigger... An immediate warmth and tingling engulfs your eyeballs, making for an extremely weird sensation as they alter. Slowly, your crack your eyelids, squinting at first before widening them rapidly as your realize it's practically as bright as day! Everything seems to be a bit duller, though, sort of a monochrome of shades of gray. You guess that makes sense, like what you've seen depicted in wildlife shows when they use nightvision to show how animals hunt and forage in the dark.
Looking down, you take stock of your altered form, now a mash-up of many different creatures: Cow hooves and legs lead up to a fluffy dog's tail, then to an extra pair of ant limbs protruding from your torso below your human arms. You can see your beak sticking out in front of your enlarged, very sensitive new owl eyes, and all you can think about is what you can change next!
It isn't long before your sharp vision spots some leaves quivering on a bush nearby, so you whip the device in that direction and pull the trigger before it can get away. As the blue light fades, the screen displays the form of a ................
