She took a decision.
First things first, Alexa thought to herself. She took a deep breath in and declared a new truth to the universe. At the very same time, Ben came back in the room, saying he forgot his own phone on his night table.
"I am a man."
Ben stopped motioning in the doorway and stared oddly at Alex for a second or so, before he smirked and continued his way.
"I know that, baby. Thankfully, you are one, I should say." Ben winked as he sat on the bedside and leaned for a kiss. Shocked and surprised, Alex didn’t really respond, neither did he pushed Ben away. The guy did make him feel comforted and trustful. Alex just realized the new mistake he made. He was now in a relationship with another man. And he was pretty sure that if he were to go back to his Instagram feed, there would still be a post about saying yes. A quick check of his ring-finger with his thumb confirmed that there was indeed a band there.
A new kiss, on the forehead this time, brought Alex back to present matters. Ben took his phone and got up yet again. Although he looked a bit worried, the tone of his voice was more of a cheerful mockery, as he teased Alex.
"You still seem only partially emerged to the realm of the livings, Bae. I’ll be in the living room, when you’re awoken enough to get up."
"Thanks", Alex answered in a low, foggy and distant voice. He was getting lost in his thoughts again and almost didn’t hear Ben as he leave the room.
"I love you, Alex."
"I love you too." Alex’s eyes shut up to the door, mortified. He had answered in a reflex, and realized just then what that could imply. He had already realized Ben was nice and cute, but now… this would be different, no? Ben was a handsome, thoughtful and funny man, that had not changed. Neither did the redhead’s affection, come to think of it. Or was his memory all mixed up too, now? It would be easy for Alex to say that he was single, or straight with a hot Asian girlfriend, or anything else, but… He didn’t really want to get broken up with Ben after all. Two days ago, Alex was desperate to find someone’s affection, and now that he had it he would blow it up? Sure, he didn’t think that it would imply to turn him into a purely-Irish descendant, nor a woman or a gay man.
It wasn’t all that bad either, Alex thought as he remembered his fiancé’s hot rod in action. Where were those memories coming from, anyway? He grabbed his phone, and the screen turned on on the latest post it had shown, now depicting two men showing their tangled hands to the camera, each sporting a metallic band. Ben was easily visible in the background, grinning as red-beard kissed his cheek. Alex was partially hidden by the angle of the photo, but anyone could still easily recognize him – well his profile – on the picture. At the time, he sported a short beard and short hair. Logical, he thought to himself, as he wasn’t a fan of his curly hair on this male version of himself. Darn, he missed his formed black hair. And his tan. That would be easy enough to arrange, but it should wait : he had enough surprises for now. On the phone screen, his eye was turned towards the camera, brilliant with joy, as his nose was crushed again Ben’s hair. Gosh! Did he not look adorable with his glasses slightly tilted like this!
Biting his lip, Alex noticed he was growing an erection and thought he should get out of bed. He then noticed a message from Jennifer. He read the message preview and smiled as he recognized his mother-now-sister typical worriness : "I hope you’re alright there, Sleeping Beauty. You really crashed yesterday." "I’m fine, thx. Have a great day and thanks for the dinner yesterday" he replied.
Alex got up and motioned to the wardrobe. He was already wearing his pyjama pants, so he only took a white t-shirt in the first drawer and put it on, yawning.
