Will generated a sentence.
"The 21-year-old female watches her boyfriend use her phone."
He quirked an eyebrow and looked back at Jenna. "So I can change one word and the person in this sentence changes in real life?"
Jenna nodded. "It totally works. I've tried it out on a bunch of people so far. But hey, if that sentence has me in it, let me know before you change anything."
"Of course. I wouldn't want you using this on me without my knowledge either," Will assured her. He tapped the app to generate a new sentence.
"Redhead Jenna believes what her blond boyfriend Will says."
Will grinned and gave Jenna a warm glance. He turned the phone around to show her. "You are really sweet, you know that?"
Jenna smiled. She thought again about the change log saying she had been a guy before using the app, but she couldn't imagine not continuing her date with Will. If she changed herself back, what would happen? Would Will still be her friend? Would they even know each other?
Will, meanwhile, looked intently at the sentence and pondered what to do with it. He snapped his finger. "Why don't we try something a little more versatile?"
As he tapped away on the phone, Jenna leaned forward to see what he was doing. "What do you mean?"
Will flipped the phone around again. Jenna read the new sentence: "Redhead Jenna becomes what her blond boyfriend Will says."
She looked at Will with both surprise and curiosity. "Wouldn't that give you an awful lot of leeway?"
Will shrugged. "Just a thought. I won't go for it unless you want to."
Jenna shook her head. "That sounds like it might be fun to try a little while, but I'd rather make changes to people who aren't us. Here, gimme and we can make some together."
Will forfeited the phone, but in the exchange, Jenna's finger accidentally hit the confirm button. She then aimed the phone at a couple of girls who looked like sisters sitting at another table.
"Woah, hold up," Will said. He shifted his seat around to be closer to Jenna. "Let me see what it says before you change anything, you hog."
Jenna gave him an annoyed look. "Really?"
"Sorry, I didn't mean to say that so strongly," Will stammered, confused at her sudden sneer. No, it wasn't just a sneer... Her nose was pointing farther upwards than it should. It was getting flatter, too. Her whole face seemed to be distorting. It plumped up cutely. Her ears grew bizarre points, almost like an elf's ears, but a little floppy, like a pig.
Will was taken aback. "What's happening to your face?"
"You called me a hog, Will. What'd you expect was going to happen?" Jenna's eyes shot daggers at him.
"Nothing! Why...? Oh damn, the phone! You're literally becoming what I say!"
Jenna shushed him, displaying her new porcine tusks. "Do you want the whole mall to know our secret? Of course I'm becoming what you say. I always do."
Will was so confused. "Since when? We didn't even go through with..." He slapped his face when it dawned on him. It was so easy to accidentally press stuff on phones. One of them must have done it when he passed it to her. The awareness setting was still keeping the target unaware, so only he knew the changes were unusual.
But understanding the situation was one thing. Now that he had this power over Jenna, what was he going to do with it?
