Morning at the Decker house came quietly, but with a different set of priorities. Largely as while the Moon Lake public schools had a teacher work day, the college still had its classes and this meant that Claire had work. This got both werecats up early with good morning kisses as they went about starting their day, though since Jen didn't have anywhere to go that morning, there was no race for the shower and she took her time getting dressed while Claire quickly showered before coming out to get dressed herself.
"You didn't have to get up with me," Claire said to Jen.
"I don't mind getting up," Jen answered, "and besides... I still have some calls to expect, either in expecting job interviews or getting responses on the interviews that I've had. It's early now... but it'd probably be better that I'm not just getting up when the phone rings."
Claire nodded and quickly finished getting dressed. They passed through the hallway, and Jen noted Tad's feet hanging off the end of his bed, before heading downstairs. The air was otherwise calm, which was something rather welcome, given some of the excitement that had been going on in the background, but Jen had never figured she'd be at the center of things like that. Though, as a born werecat, Jen could understand the fears that other weres had over the proposed reveal. And they were fears that Jen had seen on Jade Drake's face when the werekomododragon visited the previous evening, but Jen also knew that many of these fears were also helped along by the fact that Moon Lake tried as hard as it did to isolate itself from the rest of humanity. For a time it worked, but Jen had seen enough in her return to Moon Lake that a lot of that secret had relied on luck and had been preserved under the assumption that normal humans couldn't understand. But for now, that was still something that was being planned out. All Jen or Claire or anyone else could do was wait.
The made their way downstairs and went about having a quick breakfast while Claire made her lunch. Once that was made, Jen gave Claire a kiss on the check and then went about handling some of the other standard things to keep the house clean and in shape. It would be something to do while waiting to see if there was call that came. After a little while Tad came down for his own breakfast. Jen smiled to her son and greeted him as he came in for breakfast.
"Good morning, son," Jen said to Tad with a friendly smile, "Did you and Amy have a good night?"
Jen watched as her son gave a sort of soft smile. The return to Moon Lake had been about coming home and finding a safe place after her husband, Jeff Decker, had been killed. She knew that her son would get a chance to be more than just a werewolf hiding who he was in Moon Lake, and a part of her expected Tad would end up exposed to many of the things she remembered. She figured that teenage weres today were still as active as they were when she had gone through High School, though she didn't expect on how forward Amy Howler had been. However, Amy had seemed to be a good young woman and worked well with Tad, and Jen was pleased with that, particularly as the two began dating.
"Yeah," Tad smiled back and set about pouring a bowl of cereal, "the movie wasn't as good as I'd hoped it be... but we had fun afterward. As I'm sure you had fun with Claire."
"A bit," Jen nodded, "though the big thing was more talking with a young mother who's worried over the reveal and everything with it."
"A lot of people are... though last night seemed pretty normal," Tad commented, "no one caused any trouble at the theater and Amy and I didn't run into anyone fighting in the woods."
"That'll be good," Jen nodded, "might mean that the worst of it has simply been the surprise that a were would suggest exposing the idea that weres exist and successfully convinces the City Council to agree to it. Once people process it... the emotional "oh no" response wears off."
Tad nodded and began eating his cereal, with some of it crunching as he chewed on it while other parts of it being fairly soft as the cereal absorbed the milk that he'd poured into the bowl after the cereal. Jen smiled at that and turned to take a sip of her coffee and returning to finishing off the dishes that Tad and Amy had used when they had their dinner.
"So, do you have any big plans for today?" Jen asked Tad after a few moments.
"Nothing real serious," Tad admitted after swallowing a mouthful of cereal, "I was thinking on ultimately calling or checking on Connor, see how his night went."
"Your friend?" Jen wondered while looking to tad while squeezing one of the dish soap bottles into the sink.
"Yeah," Tad nodded, "I know he had a date yesterday, and I'd like to see how it went."
"And was this with a were or Moon Lake Normal?" Jen asked, "for if this went well and the date was a were, your friend could be adjusting to being a were by now. And while some of Moon Lake's... activities... may not be that much of a problem for you, remember that you were born a were. Connor was not."
"It was a were," Tad admitted, though staying silent on the gender of Connor's date. Tad knew his mother would be accepting of Connor likely being bisexual, as she was a bisexual werecat and thus would have fist hand experience with bisexual urges, but because Connor had had so many questions that he'd hidden it until recently, Tad still didn't want to reveal that until Connor was ready. Though if Connor and Ryan did hit it off and Connor had become a male werecat, a werewildcat, Connor wouldn't be able to hide that, but that was something best saved until it was better known and Connor could be confident in revealing it on his own. "And he could have become a were... but I have no plan on having this last for long. Beyond that... I'd be free to help with anything you may need."
"For the moment, things are clear," Jen answered, "I'm just wanting to make sure you remain respectful toward your friend, particularly if he's joined were society."
