Now since you'd spent the last three years knowing that the kobolds in the Trolls and Tunnels
Book of Monsters were described as being half the size
of human players and being generally timid and fearful creatures
who would run away at the sight of a tall
human in chainmail armour and a sword and shield
your danger signals should have been clanging away
since
this kold was just as big as you,was certainly not dashing away from your
sight
and
even if the intelligence and appraising stare she was giving you was not that of a Trolls and Tunnels
kobol the leather tool belt slung over her wide hips with
minature electronics screwdrivers and a see through plastic container containing some micro chips from the game she'd just altered
aught to have told you she was
playing from a different game book then you were.
Alas it didn't occur to you at the time that she,her fellow kobolds and their dragon partner were all working together
to get themselves into the real flesh and blood human world on the other side of the game screen.
So you charged forward and promptly tripped over the taut rope that lay hidden under the forest leaves a few inches off the virtual forest floor
between you and her.
You tripped and fell and struck your helmeted head on the rock that lay hidden a few feet from the trip line.
And so just as the female kobold and the dragon had planned this
you the stooge were knocked out.
Since the kobolds and their dragon partner wanted to get out of the game and into the real world
you needed to win so that when you exitted the game they could exit the game
with you and become flesh and blood monsters in the real world.
So the female kobold checked your pulse to make sure you hadn't 'died'
and then picked up your shield and tossed it to another kobold hiding in the trees who
tossed it in front of the dragon
so he could harden it with his firebreath
and make it more useful to you when
you and the dragon had the
one-on-one fight.
You were knocked out so all
the other kobolds and dragon came out to stand beside the female dragon,
The group of monsters were out to make sure you
the knocked out human
won the game
so that they could ride out when you did.
The monsters then began discussing whether this was still time
to improve on that magical sword of yours.
Alas you began to stir so the most the group could do was tie up the female
kobold and position her so it looked like you
had beat her in a fight.
Swiftly she told the dragon to take the belt with its minature screwdrivers and the plastic contain
with the electronic micro chip from her
and continue sabatoging the Trolls and Tunnels hardware.
Then she put on a pose and a face whilst the other monsters dashed off to do what was necessary
to ensure you
won the game.
