The girls right next to them were obnoxious.
It was a beautiful sunny day at the beach, and Donna had been hoping to show the place off to Tom. The sound of the crashing waves, the soft sand, and the atmosphere perfect to do a little reading in. Unfortunately for them that day of quiet and then a nice walk along the shore was being ruined by a couple of women her age who couldn’t shut up or be quiet.
They were both blondes with revealing bikinis on and stupid grins on their faces they couldn’t seem to turn off. They played loud music, kept running to and from the water, and felt the need to laugh and giggle. The only breaks Donna got for reading and quiet were when they’d vanish to the volleyball court or snack bar. It was infuriating.
“Sorry this day at the beach isn’t going as planned,” she grumbled as the girls passed them by once again with their laughter piercing Donna’s ears like a siren.
“They’re so different from you,” Tom admitted as he watched them walk past.
“They’re stupid airheads,” Donna growled, pushing her nose into her book agin. “They’ll get pregnant sooner or later and wind up like that.”
She pointed towards a family a bit further away. Mom and dad surrounded by three little bratlings, one of whom was so young her mom couldn’t do anything but bounce her up and down on her lap.
“Absolute misery,” Donna sighed while flicking her hair back. “Luckily you have me and don’t ever have to worry about that...”
“Yeah,” Tom sighed. “Luckily...”
