Hailey was sorted onto a bus with the rest of the students bound for high school. During the ride, Professor Henderson introduced herself as the head of the high school segment of the program and explained that they'll be required to submit their reports with an attached copy of each of their report cards. Her grading were based on standards set for the abilities of high schoolers which meant she would be expecting detailed essays. A lot of the students seemed offended by the older woman's harsh tone, it seemed to them as if she thought she was addressing an unruly class of high schoolers.
Hailey wasn't overly concerned with the professor's tone and instead found herself excited for this opportunity. It definitely wasn't what she was expecting, but it seemed like the experience was going to be beneficial. Plus, high school was the best option she could have picked as she wouldn't be getting too young.
When they arrived at the Immersion Center, Hailey was directed by the staff into a booth. Once she stepped in, a door slid up sealing her inside. Outside she saw a man typing into a panel on the side of the booth. When he was done, he flipped a switch and the booth lit up and Hailey felt energy surge through her body.
It wasn't just her body that began changing in response, her clothes also seemed to be shifting. After a few moments everything came to an abrupt stop and Hailey had a chance to examine herself. She was obviously scrawnier and less developed, but it was hard to get a good look as her outfit now consisted of a baggy grey sweatshirt and loose jeans.
Hailey's attention returned to her surroundings when the door to the booth dropped down in front of her, she looked up to see Professor Henderson. Hailey instinctively tensed up at the sight of the stern professor.
Reading off a form Henderson said, "Hailey Robinson. Age 14. Enrolled in Adams Public Highschool as a Freshmen. Any questions?"
Hailey did in fact have in a few but instead nervously responded, "No, ma'am."
The Professor directed Hailey back to the bus that would take her home. On the way there, Hailey wonders at the answer to one of the questions she hadn't asked. No one had ever specified whether they were going to their actual homes or were being assigned a new one.
