You have no time. You throw your phone at the couch hoping it will land softly.
You remove the sealing around the door and take a deep breath.
You take another deep breath, are you really going out there?
You bolt through the door at Chad.
His eyes go wide as you come barrelling across the yard. He looks at the brick, looks behind him. This moment of indecision is precisely what you'd hoped for.
You grit your teeth and slam into him, tackling him to the ground in a move you wish someone would've caught on camera.
You're hurt, but he is more. You quickly get on top of him and grab his gas mask.
A strong urge asserts itself. You need to breath but suppress the urge.
His muffled screams are ignored as he tries to knock you off him you slide the gas mask off his head.
Briefly you lock eyes with him. Fear and anger jump from his eyes as his hands futilely try to cover up his mouth.
You want to breath.
You roll off him and grab the brick. The world spins, your longs are burning. You MUST breath.
A hand grabs your shoulder, you reflexively swipe your arm and yell. The hand disappears, the world is getting white before your eyes.
You scramble to get back, going from a crawl to a walk.
You take a deep breath. You eyes go wide. You didn't want to, but your body did it. It needed it. Delicious oxygen fills your longs and body with power.
"Get back here!"
You ignore the screams and fall through your door, kicking it shut. You lie on the cold hard floor, gasping for air.
"You can't do this to me! Let me in!" Chad's fists angrily slam the door. "NOW! LET ME IN!"
You can feel the fog working on your body. Your clothes are getting tighter. You look at your hands, your fingers are getting pudgier. How much did you breath in?
The door is still getting hammered as you get up. Was that the sound of a seam being strained?
"LET ME IN! PLEASE!" The voice had switched from anger to desperation. The pounding had softened in power, but were upped in speed.
You look down. You belly is hanging over your pants. Your clothes are uncomfortable tight and you still appear to be growing. You undo your uncomfortably tight pants and fat surges forward through the opening.
Getting rid of this was going to take more time.
It's only then that you notice the small wisps of yellow fog hanging around the door. "Shit."
It's not just what was let in when you opened the door, without the seal it seeps in through the cracks around the door.
You need to decide now. Seal the door and with it Chad's fate or open the door to save him and then seal the door. Locking the two of you together.
You feel yourself fattening up further. You need to decide now.
