With your eyes dreamily focused on Nick, you passed through the door. It never occurred to you that the outside location appeared different from before or that, had you glanced behind, the Bae's Beats and Reels storefront had been replaced by another place entirely, a place called Bae's Dates and Services.
Nick took you in with an expression of shock that almost struck you as funny. "Whoa, I can't believe that actually worked!"
You blinked. Of all the things you expected to hear from your first blind date, this was not one of them. "Huh?" Ugh, then again, your first words were not much better.
"Are you my date? For real?" He asked, his tone turning to wonderment.
Blushing prettily, you gave him what you hoped was a playful smile. "That's why I'm here, Nick. Not having second thoughts, are you?"
He gulped and shook his head. "No, I just wasn't expecting you to be so perfect. Um, let's go?"
Being called perfect made your heart flutter. This boy was so sweet. Were dates always like this? Was this what you had been missing out on all this time, locking yourself up with your games for days on end? Seeing him offer his arm, you nearly swooned. Trying not to seem desperate, you took the arm and let him escort you to your date.
Meanwhile, Nick was lost in his own thoughts as he savored the feeling of his dream girl in the flesh hanging off his arm. When he had tried out that new dating service, he never could have known they would have his perfect girl right there, as if she had been waiting for him. How did they do it? And so fast? It almost felt like magic.
Glancing back, he studied the place, little more than a sign naming the business, a kiosk with a pay slot and touchscreen, and a single door leading into a dark interior from which his date had emerged. It could almost be called suspicious, but they had delivered in spades. Simply pay the fee, answer the questions on the screen, and poof! The specified girl simply walks out of that door into her date's arms, ready to go.
Nick had to admit, he was curious. Sure, he knew it was stupid to risk angering the hand that fed him, but he just had to know what was going on.
"Something wrong, Nick?" The cute voice of his date asked.
Turning back to those big green eyes, he shook off his previous thoughts and smiled. "Nothing at all."
Right, investigating could wait. Right now, it was time to date his dream girl.
