She suddenly set off, jogging across the field, not at all demonstrating the responsibility she'd mentioned to her son a few moments beforehand. At her speed, she quickly caught up with Keith and the Dane.
Keith turned toward her. =Oh, no,= he thought, =what now...= Megan could never get the hint that he wasn't interested in her in that way, or interested in a single mom, he'd much rather...his thought changed abruptly as he dropped Athena's leash, suddenly thinking he'd much rather join her in a game of chase.
He began to run, letting Megan chase him.
Meanwhile, Athena was surprised when her master suddenly dropped the leash and started running off. And with that woman who always interrupted their walks, no less. She decided to give chase herself, to stop them.
The three ran across the park. But as they did, Megan and Keith seemed to be increasingly running on all fours, and Athena, chasing after them, on only two feet. She was also having trouble keeping up with them, as they seemed to have boundless energy. Right now, she really wanted to sit down and take a break.
As the two ran, they seemed to be discarding bits of clothing...or rather they were vanishing. Finally, Megan caught Keith. "Got you," she said, happily. By this time, both humans were on all fours, completely naked.
"Yup," he said, panting. "My turn?"
"Sure," she said.
Both humans were thinking of nothing more than the innocent fun, all other cares melting away....as they were increasingly unable to focus on more than one thing at a time.
Athena came running over the hill. "Bark Bark Bark...Bad..." she said, panting. "Bad humans..."
They both turned, wide eyed. Bad, what had they done?
"You shouldn't have run off like that...you have to stay where I can see you," Athena said, her voice becoming increasingly clear with each word.
"Sowwy," both humans chimed in. It sounded garbled, as if their mouths were having trouble forming the words.
