The Chapter on Robotic Dragons, 'Dragon Facsimile', began with a brief explanation of the concept of robots, and how they're very different from living organisms. They have no bones or organs, but instead are made up of multiple parts, each one being controlled by a computer program. This makes them much more versatile than their animal counterparts. Demonstrating as well how robots are able to be more than just be evil cyborgs who want to take over the world.
"Mechanical Beings, such as these robotic dragons, are a recent advancement over the arcanally expensive and rarely utilized golems¹ of the past; And due to their physically more complicated form, they are capable of being easily reactivated even after being deactivated for long periods of time, and can run on multiple different forms of power. From wires filled with electricity, to a manifold of small gears being wound up from an external source; or the more expensive and arcane concept of having them wind eachother up, to even wireless electricity transmission between their modular components. However, these shouldn't limit you to those concepts, but act as merely a base for such."
And next to that paragraph was a surprisingly detailed diagram of the internals for what is presumed to be a Robotic Dragon.
James looks down to the bottom of the page and reads the annotation down there.
"¹, Golems are artificial creations, sustained by mana, made for automation, defense and other purposes. However, due to their physically simplistic form, they require a constant stream of magic to function. Further elaboration on Golems and Enchanted machines can be found in Section 4 of this chapter."
And he went back up to continue reading, curious at how well built the setting is for this odd book. Almost feels like as if it is real! What an odd thing to suggest.
