Memorial Day in Animalia wasn't too big since everyone was preparing for the IAC, but that didn't mean that there wasn't some interesting things going on, mainly things that had really unexpected outcomes. The usual half-price conversions for veterans were going on in Animalia and its colonies, but Dino City had a really amusing thing going on that someone had the fortune to record.
When the hippies that had been arriving at Dino City had finally underwent conversion, they had done so en masse. They had also all chosen herbivore Dinotopians, which made the next event rather amusing. The veterans that had arrived in Dino City were on the receiving end of some low-key heckling, but they all came out as carnivorous dinosaurs and gave them all a good scare by roaring at them.
Another thing that resulted from this was Ursula Vandergrift learning the hard way the old saying "the tighter the laces, the harder they snap". One of the veterans had also become a pure Tyrannosaurus Rex, and this was generating a lot of unfamiliar feelings inside her, often causing her to "drift off" in fantasies she hadn't had since she was a teenager, much to the amusement of witnesses who saw her snap out of them after a minute or two.

Another thing that was both funny and unexpected involved Lars and Nicole. While they didn't break up because of it, it was still funny nonetheless. Apparently, after Lars returned to work in Salt Lake City, the insurance company he worked at experienced a sudden surge in business. The fact that most of the new customers were girls seemed to speak a lot about why this was. Anyway, because of this sudden surge in business, it was enough to open a branch office in Animalia, which suited Lars just fine since it would allow him to be with Nicole more.

Something that was really surprising actually happened on Heiya Island. While digging the foundation for one of the buildings for "Samurai Prep" (as it was unofficially known on the Animalia Website), a collection of earthenware pots full of a total (once counted) of 27000 Japanese copper coins had been discovered. After analysis, it was determined that the coins had been minted during the late 15th to early 16th century, and had been once owned by a samurai who was in the "elite" status amongst his fellow samurai. There were a few theories on why they were there, from being an offering to a deity of the earth, to a means of safekeeping during troubled times. The second one was more likely since this time period in Japan was known as the Sengoku period.

Two things that were both surprising and funny actually happened on Mieni Atoll. One such thing was when Mieni Atoll's new hippie members decided to look elsewhere for marijuana "substitutes" since it was illegal on Mieni. This would result in a hilarious meme about "smoking seaweed".
A second, indirect, version of this was when a number of "super rich" members of society followed the "trend" of moving to Animalia, this time at Mieni Atoll. The hippies almost immediately started "attacking" them for the death of the whales and depletion of the rain forests, though this did make for an amusing side story in the latest episode of Fun and Fins.

A few, final, amusing things actually happened in Lyre/Animalia, though these were considered more normal. One was the presence of the Rhino Guard at the construction sites for Chinatown, Animalia. While it might seem like a little overkill for providing security, it was understandable since hate crimes against Asians/Asian Americans were at an all time high. This had an effect of preventing a lot of would-be violence, since people were only brave enough to shout insults from their vehicles.
A second one was Chaman and Kamana's conversion into cattle Animalians. Chaman had brought a sample of cattle fur from India and had used it for his conversion. Kamana, however, had gotten a Belgian Blue for her conversion, and while neither of them ended up more or less muscular than the other, it did create an interesting contrast between the two of them.
A third, and final, one was when Madame Matryoshka was showing Carol around town. While she was interested in almost everything, she was the most interested in Iphis, Ianthe, Ty and Lily, as well as Medusa and Medea. She was surprised to learn that Minerva and Medea as well as Iphis and Ianthe were actually two heads on one body, but, to be fair, everyone she met was surprised that she was a lot more timid/shy that would be expected of a poisonous snake.
