Jeff woke with a start, as his ignition was started and his automobile body powered up.
"Dean, never turn me off again. It's not like sleeping. Maybe it's like dying and being revived? Oh, gawd, it's almost 5 pm! Where have you been? I am scheduled to change back into a human at 5:15 pm!"
"No worries, brah, you're one really fast car. I can get you back to that spot in the woods in 20 minites tops!"
"5:17 is two minutes too late!"
"I'll just drive faster," Dean said as he pulled on to the motorway and floored it.
He burned rubber, and skidded as he went through the roundabout. Jeff tried to stay calm, maybe Dean would make it.
Suddenly, a dog appeared on the highway. Dean swerved off the road and into a ditch. He came to rest at the foot of a big willow tree. The foliage completely obscured the Skoda from traffic. The airbags deployed, and Dean blacked out.
"Dean, Dean, wake up. You have to get out of me! It's already after 5:14! 10, 9, wake up, Dean! 6, 5, 4, oh gawd, I'm changing."
Dean mumbled groggily, "Mum, lemme sleep another 10 minutes, please!"
The metal began to twist and bend inward. Dean, woke doubled over in the seat. The windshield and driver's side window were just shrinking slivers of glass. He screamed, but it was muffled as the car compacted into human shape around him.
The body that reshaped under the willow tree was larger than Jeff, and his clothing resembled the Harlequin. Jeff's blue denim jeans were interspersed with Dean' black denim jeans, and Dean's red shirt and Jeff's blue one were now Harlequin style as well. The body moved awkwardly as he tried to stand. His feet were huge, and his shoes were a mixture of blue synthetic trainers and red leather trainers. The merged man moaned, as he got to his knees.
