As you peeked out for a second time from your hiding place between a pair of houses, you were chewing your lower lip. You spied on the young half-elven peddler again. Her beauty still irked you. From her sun-kissed skin; her golden spun hair; verdant green eyes; and her warmly smiling lips whispering to the beast of burden pulling her carriage. She brought the warmth of summer, whereas you heralded the cold darkness of winter. You checked your inventory, seeing the lone Capture Net, the other two distributed to your Imp minions. You had taken it with you in the hopes of finding an easy target.
The quest had specified capturing at least two humans and said nothing about half-elven wenches, but you wanted her. For yourself, if nothing else. Distantly you realized that it was the fickle nature of the Unseelie speaking. As a human, you could get angry, like everyone else, but had never experienced the simmering animosity you now felt toward this woman. How dare a mere mortal be more radiant than a faerie! Your wings buzzed in annoyance. Catching the half-elf tense and slowly turn her head toward the noise you had made, you dove behind the barrel you had leaned your chin against. Stupid, stupid Demi! And stupid half-elf!
Your faint hope that she'd not investigate was crushed as soon you heard the sound of shifting gravel coming closer. All you could was put your hope into your Subterfuge skill to pull you through. Though there was a second option. You brushed a finger against the pommel of one of your twin daggers. Their serrated blades were razor-edged, perfect for cutting flesh. A Sneak Attack would nearly triple your damage output. It was a good chance your Health bar would reach 0% by a single backstab; probably the same for a low-level half-elf.
“Anybody there? Come here kitty. Puss puss puss... no, maybe you aren't a kitty. What are you, my furry little friend?” Ugh! Even her voice was sickly sweet and full of life and hope. After a few more moments, you could feel her shadow fall over you. Whatever path you would choose, it was now or never. And your scouting mission had gone so well up till now.
