While rummaging a bit through the room and thinking about what to do, Jayden suddenly hears his phone chiming. Thinking it's his friends who've send him a message back, either to laugh at him or tell him they're on their way, he heads back to the bed where he left it.
Picking up his phone, he finds something completely different from what he expected as not only are the messages coming from numbers he doesn't recognize at all, they're even coming from a completely different area code than his own. And that's not even the strangest thing! All of the messages seem to be from dates way before today as most of them are dated 10 years in the past. Yet his phone keeps chiming as like it's suddenly catching up on lots of missed messages.
He thinks to himself that someone must've either gotten the wrong number or that he's being targetted by one of those off shore mobile phone scammers. No matter which of the two it is, he is quite curious as to what is being written. So he starts going through them in order.
A few messages in he notices that all of of these are for a person called Yumiko. He learns that she moved to America a good 10 years ago on a scholarship to attend school in the states. She had a hard time saying goodbye to her friends and family, but all of them were really supportive of her choice and the chances it provided. After spending the summer vacation saying goodbye and hanging out with everyone, she packed some of her favourite things and jumped on a plane to the states in order to attend school at the prestigious Terra Falls Academy. After moving, she stayed in contact with her friends to talk about newest manga releases, had regular conversations with her mom and dad about how the studies were going and enchanted her little sister with tales about her adventures in the states.
Unbeknownst to him, whilst he's reading more and more about Yumiko and her life, some changes have started to occur. The fingers he's been swiping with have become noticeably more slender and feminine, his complexion and hair have gotten a little bit darker than when he first entered this room, and most importantly, he seems to have been able to read all of the messages on the phone. Even the ones from the grandparents that were exclusively in Japanese.
