Not wanting to anger the queen any further, you explain that in fact you did want to join them in the first place, but were reluctant to become a merman. You saw the elegance and beauty of the playing mermaids and wanted to be like them.
When you finish your story, the queen seems in a much lighter mood and is even chuckling a bit as you explain. "Oh, but why didn't you say so in the first place?", she sighs, "both of us would've been saved quite a bit of trouble. I am offering you a unique deal: abandon those amphibian tricksters and join us as a mermaid. I will remove your old form and make you the mermaid you want to be." You consider your options, and conclude you can't lose. You'll be safe and well-fed here, far away from eating flies in a toad-ridden bog. You silently nod in agreement, and the queen starts chanting some kind of spell.
In a flash of light, her magic hits you and you can feel the mermaid flesh practically welding on to your bones. The star mark on your side disappears, and your head starts to hurt. It's as if your brain is rewiring and momentarily, you are confused. When the feeling disappears, you feel like a new person. The queen then comes towards you, puts a hand on your shoulder and says:"You are now a natural mermaid, and in league with the frogmen no more. I welcome you to the mermaid kingdom as a citizen, and to our great family as a daughter. Now, go forth and explore your new home in freedom." The queen smiles and waves you goodbye as you swim out, finally having nothing to hide anymore.
