Father's Day in Animalia was a little confusing, mainly for those in other colonies who didn't really have something similar. Fortunately, other Animalians were more than happy to explain what 'Father's Day' was, and there were a number of special events going on, as well as a few surprises, and some of them weren't just tied to Father's Day.

What was probably the most notorious was the "Father's Day Photoshoot" at ASM. Fathers and Fathers-to-be were able to do modeling shoots for fun. While their wives who were watching found their shoots very enjoyable, their children (if any) found it to be very embarrassing. The best example of this was King Andrew I. While Kinjira was cheering him on during his photoshoot, Jeff was too shocked and embarrassed to do anything but stare with a hilarious (to others) expression on his face, much to everyone else's amusement.

One funny thing that wasn't tied to Father's Day was actually happened while Shelly and Molly were out and about and planning their wedding. They just spotted two new Animalians, one a male tiger and the other a male polar bear. Almost immediately they broke out in cold sweats and lost the ability to speak, which some who saw it thought was funny. After they lost sight of the two males, Shelly and Molly returned to normal and publicly dismissed it as something they ate. They did book an appointment with Doctor Jones later to know what had happened. They DID know that they would be eventually attracted to guys, but they never expected it to hit them so soon or so hard. They hoped that a session with Doctor Jones would help them understand just what had happened, since it was so unfamiliar.

There are some who argue that "the best way to celebrate Father's day is by becoming one", and this was certainly true for Arlene and Moxie, but they were soon joined in the "expectations club" (an unofficial name for the pregnant members of Animalia, again from the website) by Ella, Simone, and Annie. While the revelation was a bit of a surprise, it wasn't an unwelcome one, since they've been going at it for quite a while, and quite vigorously. Fortunately there were parenting classes to help new mothers-to-be learn about being parents (such as what to do, or what NOT to do) as well as post-pregnancy workout classes.

One really unexpected thing was a result of Date's interview on Animalia Ambassadoria, as well as the Herm Bachelor/Bachelorette Auction. After the episode had aired, there had been a flood of applicants to Project Hermaphroditus. While a large percentage of them were from those who were "confused" about who they were, there was a small percentage that had been butchered by black market surgeons, which was a bit more understandable.
