Jayden made passing glances as he scanned the rooms for anything that looked like an exit.
“Vent that’s too small... window that’s blocked up... nothing, nothing, nothing...” he listed to himself.
It was an old habit that kept him from getting lost, especially in... abandoned... places?
He paused and rubbed his eyes, doing a double take as a room shined with light. Not just any light.... the kind one would see in a dark room with only the TV turned on.
“What the hell?” Jayden whispered as he crept to the ajar door and swiftly shoved it open.
He couldn’t believe what he as looking at: a TV hooked up to a gaming system. It more than that; this was a whole gaming setup, with a modern TV and adaptors and everything! The wallpaper wasn’t stained or scratched a bit, the carpet looked as clean as the day it was put in.
“This doesn’t make any sense...” Jayden said as he grabbed the Zelda themed comforter off the freshly made bed, “Isn’t this place abandoned, how’d this get here....”
Then it hit him:
“Adam and the guys are setting me up for a prank!”
He paused and shook his head “Nah, Roger’s too nice and Adam and George are too dumb to think this up on their own.”
He just about crapped himself as echoey footsteps rang out in the halls.
‘Holy shit, this is a squatter’s place!!!!’ He panicked mentally as he dove under the bed. He shuddered in complete terror as a pair of feet in heavy boots approached the bed and stopped. Every atom in his body trembled as he watched the figure back away and sit down on a huge beanbag chair, grabbing a controller and turning on a Sonic game.
‘I figured it’d be Ocarina of Time.’ Jayden thought to himself.
“Hey Jayden, are you gonna spend all day looking for change under the bed or are we playing Sonic 3?” The girl asked out of nowhere.
Jayden froze for a moment, before shaking his head and crawling out from under the bed.
“I’m here.” He calmly said with a tinge if confusion as he sat down and picked up a controller.
