"Here we go now." Mandy snickered as she went to press enter.
"Wait!" Jason tried to call out as he reached for the phone , but it was too late.
After grabbing her phone back, she quickly checked to see what the sentence on the phone read. All that was there was the normal screen, no sentence generated. Jen brushed the hair from her eyes, gave a long sigh, then glared back up at her coworker.
"Are you crazy!?" Jen asked, only partially rhetorically.
"Like, relax Red." Mandy chuckled. "I was gonna help us out." She explained.
Jen's face began to turn red. Jen hated the nickname Mandy gave her. She claimed it was because if Jen's curly red hair, but Jen figured the real reason was because whenever she got mad her face would often quickly flush with color.
"No you were gonna screw us!" Jen retorted.
She was about to continue when a bell suddenly rang as the door to the smoothie shop opened. In walked a customer. He seemed to be a young man, roughly close to their age. He was tall, had blonde hair, and was wearing a t-shirt, shorts and a headband. Seemingly he had come from working out as he was a bit sweaty. Suddenly Jen's redness from anger was still red for different reasons.
"Hold on, I'll explain later." Jen whispered. "Don't try anything." She added as she had to put her phone down on the counter right beside herself.
"Hi welcome to Sally's Smoothie Shop." Jen gleefully greeted. "What can I getcha today?"
"Hey, can I get a... tropical strawberry smoothie." The man replied after a moment of thought.
"Oh, complicated one." Jen giggled. "Gotta grab some strawberry's from the back if you don't mind."
"Yeah no problem, I've been working out a lot lately so I figured I could cheat a bit today." The guy chuckled, flexing one of his arms to demonstrate.
Jen felt her face flush slightly, twirling a red curly lock subconsciously.
"Ha ha, yeah like, I bet! A-anyway I'll go get that drink for you be right back." She muttered before hurrying swiftly to the back room.
Mandy had watched all that unfold from the sideline. Jen never knew what to do around hot guys, so Mandy had tried to teach her but she always fell flat.
"Jeez Red, you're hopeless girl." She thought.
Her thoughts then drifted back towards the app. Maybe changing this guy a tad could make it easier for Jen to talk to? Mandy checked to make sure Jen wasn't looking before swiping the phone. She pulled up the app, selected the guy's icon and a sentence generated.
"Todd is waiting for his smoothie."
"Hmm, so Todd's his name. Helpful but not what I need." Mandy thought. She then generated a new sentence.
"The fit man is waiting around."
"Bingo." Mandy thought. She then quickly changed "fit" to read "average." She glanced back up and smiled. The guy was still dressed the same and looked the same, but his muscle mass had clearly gone down. Just then Jen walked back out with the ingredients, giving Todd a brief smile before turning to make his smoothie.
That's when Mandy got a glimpse of something that pissed her off. After Jen had turned her head, Todd's smile vanished. He turned his head, rolled his eyes, then picked at his teeth!
"Oh hell no, lesson over." Mandy thought with a scowl. She pulled up another sentence.
"The man is getting impatient."
"Clearly instead of a smoothie he should've drunken some respect women juice." Mandy thought jokingly. Mandy then changed "man" to "woman" instead.
Mandy looked up and snickered slightly. Instead of the blonde man there was now a blonde girl. Her hair was long and in a ponytail. Her bust was average at best but a decent ass. Her outfit had also changed to a tank top and yoga pants with a very girlish pink hue. However, she still looked annoyed, no seemingly checking out her nails as if she had somewhere better to be.
"Hmm, Maybe one more change." Mandy thought gleefully. After generating a new sentence, her eyes lit up with glee.
"The healthy woman waits for her guilty pleasure."
Mandy swiftly changed "healthy" to read "unhealthy" and with just two simply letters added reality changed drastically.
Standing there was now a whale of a woman. Long, messy blonde hair, massive dropping breasts, a big gut and muffin-top combo over her new jeans and much wider tank-top. Her formerly muscular arms were now wider and flabby. Too boot, her ass was now QUITE the show. Instead of her typical annoyed look, she now looked eager and excited.
"Alright, here we go Tina!" Jen suddenly said. "The usual."
"Oh thanks Jen!" Tina replied, handing Jen the correct change without even asking. The newly fat women then waddled away while slurping, unaware that she had ever been anything other than what she was now. Mandy smirked, feeling she did a job well done. That smirk only lasted for a moment, because the second Jen saw what Mandy had in her hand she grew furious once more.
"Mandy!" Jen snapped. "Put that down! What did I say?!"
"Relax Red, I just needed to teach some guy a lesson." She giggled.
"Guy... Tina was the only one in here and she's been a regular for... oh God, don't tell me." Jen sighed, putting her right hand against her face.
"Look, you don't wanna know what he was like, she's way better this way." Mandy laughed.
Silently, Jen swiped the phone, then pointed towards the back room.
Mandy rolled her eyes, bushed her braids from her eyes then walked quickly into the room. Jen followed before shutting the door and checking for anyone entering the store, then turned to face her friend, who had just sat down.
"Mandy, listen girl, I'm not saying we don't use the app, but you gotta be careful!" She explained.
"Red, I know what you said before, but I was about to make a good change! I was gonna change this shitty store into a clothing place! You know, an actual useful store for a mall?" She replied.
"Exactly! Changing a location while we're in it is the danger! I told you before remember? When you're in a place, and you change it, you won't be aware of any changes to yourself. Plus, think about all the other issues! A clothing store would be way bigger, so where would the people come from? Would the smoothie machines become coworkers? What about customers?"
Mandy thought for a minute before looking up.
"How do you know if you're in it you can't tell?" Mandy genuinely asked.
"Well because... because..." Jen struggled to respond. Why did she know? She thought about it, but the more she thought about her day the more confused she became. Something about a movie... then a game shop... and Mandy changing? No, no that couldn't be everything about her was the same. She was always a woman she was alway black she was always her friend... so why did she feel like something was wrong?
"See, you can't even tell me!" Mandy laughed.
"Amanda I'm not lying! I mean, if anything the fact that I can't remember means it might've happened!" Jen answered.
"Oh please Red, you're not the brightest tool in the shed honey." Mandy sighed.
"Like, what does that mean!?" Jen asked.
"Look, I'm not saying you're dumb, you can just have your... ditzier moments is all." Mandy tried to explain nicely.
Jen's scrunched her face, feeling. a little hurt. She undid her ponytail, letting her curly locks fall, then ruffled her hair. She walked back and forth for a moment before turning back towards Mandy, brushing her hair back and then crossing her arms, slightly pronouncing her breasts higher.
"I. Am. Not. Wrong." She sneered. "Like, I may not remember, but I know something happens with awareness when you're in a place."
Mandy stared back for a moment. She then stood back up with a smile.
"Ok Red, tell you what? How about we test it out."
"What do you mean?" Jen asked, concerned.
"Well, if this feeling you have is because of you changing by mistake and not being aware, then let's change the shop." She explained.
"What... no! I just said it's dangerous. If I'm right, then we'll change and won't be able to tell!" Jen replied, a little scared.
"Not true, if you're right, then you can still tell, just a bit. So, if we change this place, and I also feel odd in a moment, then boom we know you're right." Mandy answered.
"Well, I guess that can work." Jen thought out loud. "But, what if we change like, a crazy amount?"
"We won't, like, these are store options in a mall we're talking about? How much can we change? Like, worst case scenario we loose some shitty job of some kind."
Jen thought for another moment, glancing up at her friend.
"Alright, I trust you Mandy... but, let's try nothing to crazy ok?"
"Sure thing." Mandy replied.
Mandy then grabbed the phone, pulling up the app. She selected the location, generating sentences.
"No. No. Nope. No. Ah, here we go!" She smiled, showing Jen the sentence.
"This is a Smoothie shop."
"Easy, simple, no mess" Mandy said.
"Ok." Jen agreed, holding onto the phone as well. "Just don't go too crazy."
"Relax, what's the worst that could happen?" Mandy chuckled as she began to replace smoothie.
