Unknown to me, Ludmila sent a letter to said council of elders the very next day, desperately hoping for approval.
Before we could have any news of it, one night we got attacked by robbers while we were watching TV together. They ransacked the place and started grabbing anything they believed to be of value. (They were dumb enough to not realize our silverware, weren't actually made of silver. I'm not a rich person after all.) For fear of what they could do to us, I didn't resist. (Neither did Ludmila, probably fearing for my life.)
Until they saw her bottle and were about to grab it, I couldn't let them separate me from the love of my life. Trying to stop one of them from taking it, I took hold of the bottle and refused to let it go, to the ire of the thief now holding the other end of it. When he was finally able to take the bottle, in his rage he hit me on the head with it, with it, breaking it, before stabbing me in the heart with what was left of it.
It should have killed me, but I was already feeling Ludmila's magic entering me, binding me as her new home.
Now in total panic, the group of thieves flew my flat so fast they missed the remains of the bottles dissolving into fog to enter my body.
One of the greatest taboo in djinn culture had been broken, and while neither Ludmila or me were responsible for it, we feared the council wouldn't see things that way, forcing us to flee the place just like the thieves had done only a few minutes earlier and go into hiding, never looking back.
