Rhonda couldn't recall any better rest in her life as she stretched out, a loud, pleased yawn being accompanied by a small gust of flame from her mouth. The smile couldn't be peeled from her face by any force in the universe as she hummed quietly to herself, eyes lazily glancing down at the girl who had been in her arms for... oh, she had no idea how long at this point. May was still fast asleep in all four of her arms, the doll-dragon-girl's head nestled perfectly between the quadruple mammaries that heaved with Rhonda's every breath. It was, in a word, blissful, and she wished she could cast time magic just to drag this embrace out for an eternity or two. May just... made her feel happy, in a way no other girl ever had.
Alas, all good things come to an end. With a reluctant sigh, she patted the other girl's back, speaking softly into her ear. "Hey. Time to get up, beautiful." The sound of her voice got a stir and a happy moan out of May, her attempts to wake up lasting another minute or two before she finally opened her eyes, staring right into Rhonda's. The locking of their gazes made her sigh wistfully, a hand reaching up to brush through that long red hair, tickling for a moment at the tip of one of her draconic horns. Her expression said it all - she was every bit as content as the girl holding her, and by extension, every bit as hesitant to pull away and get onto her feet.
What finally made her get up, stretching as she once again stood, was a realization that also brought a furrowed brow. "Hey... how long have we been out?" she asked, before reaching down into a pocket to dig out phone and check the time.
"Oh no."
"What's wrong?" Rhonda asked, still a bit groggy as she leaned over May's shoulder, two hands on each of the other girl's sides. "Late for class?"
May swallowed audibly. "Ohhhhhh this is so much worse than that." Her face was somehow even more pale than usual as she turned around, both hands gripping her head in terror. "Rhonda, we're out past curfew!"
The dragon-morph stared at her for a solid half-minute before May realized she needed to elaborate. "That's bad! That's really really bad!"
Rhonda rolled her eyes. "What are they gonna do, give us more homework?" She was already making her way towards the door. "Ohhhhhh, don't tell me, there's some big cerberus thing out after curfew patrolling the halls? Ohhhh, I'm so scared, I've only helped Sofia kill like twenty giant dog monsters!"
Just as she was about to turn the knob, May rushed over, forcing the door to remain shut with all the strength her draonic body could muster. "No, that's ridiculous! After curfew is when the alien reptiles go prowling for witches to convert to their species!"
Rhonda stared blankly.
"Wut."
"Did you even read the syllabus?" They both knew the answer to that question, and May realized it, causing her to groan and launch into an explanation. "St. Chariot's is the site of a massive temporal anomaly; I read this article once arguing that there are probably a billion timelines where the world ended and someone here traveled back to prevent it, and that's the cause... but anyway. You know the Valkarians, right?"
"The... raptor people, right? Humanoid, but with velociraptor features?"
"No, they're reptiles. Velociraptors are avian."
"Yeah, but raptor people sounds way cooler than lizard people."
"Look, either way, you know they tend to blow up temporal anomalies, right? Protecting the fabric of spacetime? Well, a principal a couple hundred years ago made a deal with them." Her tail curled up in worry. "They leave the school intact, and in exchange, the Valkarians get to prowl around the school after curfew, and if they catch you..." Her eyes widened. "Congrats, you're gonna get turned into a Valkarian Battlemage, and you'll never see Earth again."
Slightly slack-jawed, the Latina reached up with one hand to scratch her had, and with the other on that side to scratch her neck at the same time. "Why the hell would any principal agree to that?"
"Well... she was kinda rumored to be a... scalie..."
"Of course she was." She groaned. "Well, we can't just... stay here all night, can we?" She badly wanted to sleep in her own bed tonight, not on the floor, or on a table. "I mean, we don't even have anything soft in here to lay out on... or food... or water... or...."
She trailed off as May slowly lifted up her wand. Right. Magic. Conjuration. "...right." Sometimes she wondered how she kept this disguise up.
"I mean... we could try and run it, but..." May winced. "I like Earth... and the people here... and the dragon stuff is cool, but I'm not sure about being an alien lizard..."
"Alien velociraptor."
"That's not even close to right."
"But it's way more awesome."
"Alright, yeah," May shrugged, conceding the point. "But really... what do you think? Do we take the chance?" It was a big risk... but if they made it, well, it'd sure as hell secure Rhonda's reputation as a badass, right? Or... hell, maybe the Valkarians wouldn't even harm them. She recalled dragons being about equvialent to angels in their weird proud warrior race religion - for all she knew, Rhonda and May might look like divine beings to those guys, deserving of worship. That might not help in an election, but you never knew when having alien space raptors worshipping you might come in handy.
